Kimani Vidal made sure to make the best of the biggest opportunity of his career so far in Week 6.
The second-year running back spearheaded the running back room in the win against the Dolphins with 18 rushes for 124 yards to go along with three catches for 14 yards and a touchdown.
Coming into the week knowing he would have some opportunities with Omarion Hampton being placed on Injured Reserve, Vidal took advantage.
"I didn't know exactly the opportunities that were going to come," Vidal said postgame. "I knew there was a good chance I was going to play a good bit.
"I was just trying to give it my all every opportunity," he added.
Vidal got the start in Miami and got the bulk of the workload early and often, touching the ball eight times in the first quarter.
And it was apparent from the jump that the 2024 sixth-round pick was ready as he went for 59 rushing yards in the first frame, including his 38-yard burst on a third down that got the Bolts into field goal range.
The running back was able to get in a rhythm and took off from there.
"I think it was important," Vidal said. "Playing down here in Miami, the weather is completely different.
"That was a lot of my focus going into the game, just being physically prepared," Vidal added.
Time and time again, Vidal ripped off explosive plays that kept the offense moving in Miami.
Vidal finished with rushes of 19, 27 and 13 to go along with his long of 38 yards.
To add more to his career day, he also caught his second career receiving touchdown, and first of 2025, on a play coming out of the backfield that extended the Chargers lead late in the third quarter.
"It was awesome to see," Justin Herbert said postgame about Vidal. "He had a great year last year, he stepped up, some big time plays last year. That's what we're expecting from him.
"He's done such a great job of listening and understanding what we're asking of him," Herbert added. "He took the most of it today and it's awesome to see that he took the best of opportunity."
If you ask Vidal, though, he believes he left some on the table.
"To be quite honest, I wanted to do more," Vidal said. "I still feel like I could've done better. Just happy we won."
Whether it was Vidal or many other members of the Chargers in Week 6, he was asked to step up and delivered.
The 24-year-old knows that's life in the NFL, and was more than ready for it.
"That's just how the NFL is," Vidal said. "Guys get hurt, it's a very thin league. My boy Nyheim [Hines], he wasn't here before then [today] he made a great kick return, set us up on the two-minute drive.
"That's just how the NFL is," Vidal added.
Vidal had put together 53 touches for 236 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in 12 career games heading into Week 6.
One game later and he set new heights in every department of his young career, stepping up when the Bolts needed him most.
And what he set out to do what he had in mind in what was the biggest opportunity he's had in the NFL so far.
"To really just showcase my talents," Vidal said. "I feel like before this game I haven't done much on the field. I've played here or there, I've had good plays here or there, I've had negative plays here or there. I wanted to just do more."
Vidal later added: "I've always thought about this day coming. Just happy we came out with a win."
