Local High Schools Take over SoFi Stadium for 5th Annual STEM on the Sidelines
The 5th annual "STEM on the Sidelines" engineering challenge took place on Saturday, Dec 10th, at SoFi Stadium. STEM on the Sidelines is a collaboration between Ducommun, Inc., UC Irvine, and the Los Angeles Chargers. High school teams from Orange and LA counties designed, built, and coded their own custom football launchers to score maximum points. After an exciting and fierce competition, University High School in Irvine, CA rose above to claim 1st place.
Chargers & Pechanga Surprise Students with New Bikes
Earlier this week, the Bolts continued an 18-year tradition of surprising local elementary school students with brand new bikes for the holidays! Chargers OLB Khalil Mack, DL Morgan Fox, WR DeAndre Carter, K Cameron Dicker, DL Otito Ogbonnia, LB Derek Tuszka, and LB Tyreek Maddox-Williams joined the Bikes for Kids Foundation and Pechanga Resort & Casino at Mayo Elementary school where they were greeted by over 150 deserving second and third graders. The bikes were built by Bolts Community Crew – powered by Pacific Premier Bank – volunteers the Saturday prior, and kept hidden from the students until the players revealed the news.
Chargers Renovate Dining Hall at U.S. Vets
The Chargers Impact Fund and Pepsi teamed up to sponsor the renovation of the dining hall at U.S. Vets – Long Beach. The renovation included a new coat of paint, new food pantry shelves, storage cabinets, tables, chairs and a reception desk. Chargers' Salute to Service Award nominee and DE, Morgan Fox, and OT, Austen Pleasants, joined for a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the re-opening of the dining hall.
The Chargers Impact Fund and Wallis Annenberg PetSpace Host First Downs for First Books Event
Earlier this week, the Chargers Impact Fund teamed up with PetSpace for an animal welfare-themed First Downs for First Books event with students from Lincoln Elementary School. Joined by players Cameron Dicker, Derrek Tuszka, and Chargers Pup, Brisket, the students read to adoptable animals, participated in arts and crafts, learned about service animals, and took part in a puppy yoga class.
Chargers Host Annual Halloween "Trick-or-Treat" Trail for Pediatric Cancer Patients and Families
The Chargers celebrated Halloween on Tuesday in partnership with Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation by inviting young patients and their families to the team's headquarters at Hoag Performance Center. The fifth annual event included a special trick-or-treat trail through the team facility, arts and crafts and one-on-one time with Coach Brandon Staley and players including Drue Tranquill, Morgan Fox, Khalil Mack, Trey Pipkins and more!
Chargers Help Kickoff Girls Flag Football Season
The Chargers, in partnership with Gatorade and Nike, helped host the first weekend of the 2022 Girls Flag Football season at Redondo Union High School. The second year of the pilot league features 16 teams and works towards making girls flag football an official high school sport statewide. Participating in the first week of games were Leuzinger, Redondo Union, Hawthorne, Long Beach Poly, Serra, St. Bernard, Rise Kohyang and Sierra Vista.
Chargers and Pechanga Casino & Resort host Breast Cancer Survivors at for a Special Pamper Day
The Chargers teamed up with Pechanga Casino & Resort to host a special spa and pampering day for 12 breast cancer survivors in honor of Crucial Catch month. The survivors were treated to massages and facials at Pechanga's state of the art facility and were treated to lunch with Amy Staley, wife of Head Coach Brandon Staley.
Chargers and Gilead Sciences, Inc. team up to Host a Free Mammogram Event in Watts During Crucial Catch Month
The Los Angeles Chargers teamed up with the American Cancer Society and Gilead Sciences, Inc. to host a free mammography clinic for over 20 women at the Watts Healthcare Center during Crucial Catch Month. Safety Alohi Gilman and Tight End Tre' McKitty were on hand to tour the Watts facility and learn more about the importance of early detection.
Bolts name Burbank HS Football Team the winners of TAKE CHARGE, presented by American Airlines
The Chargers teamed up with American Airlines to name Burbank High School's football team the winners of Take Charge, a community-driven competition between high school football teams in the Los Angeles area. Bolts CB Asante Samuel Jr. and the VP of American Airlines, Lokesh Amaranayaka, spoke to the athletes about the importance of leadership, character, and giving back to the community. They both surprised the team's practice with tickets to the team's Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks and a donation to the football program!
Girls Flag Jersey Unveil at SoFi Stadium
The Chargers, in partnership with Nike, Gatorade, and the Rams, provided new uniforms and products to the 16 teams participating in the second season of Girls Flag Football across high schools in Los Angeles. Team USA members spoke to the athletes about the importance of girls' flag and achieving equality in sports.

Chargers rookies Zion Johnson and JT Woods visited Westminster High School to recognize Head Coach Steven Anderson as Coach of the Week. Annually, this program recognizes high school football coaches who have made a difference in the lives of their players through leadership, hard work, and a special dedication to their young scholar athletes.

Earlier this week, Los Angeles Chargers rookie class visited Debbie Allen Dance Academy and toured their new world class facility. Joining the Bolts at the academy were Jordan High School football players and DADA dancers who participated in a Q&A with NBA Legend Norm Nixon!
Bolt Academy Commencement Celebration with Chargers & SoFi
Presented by SoFi, Bolt Academy is a collaborative partnership between the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund, Inglewood Unified School District, and Brotherhood Crusade, a nonprofit building power in South L.A. for over 50 years, created to prepare students for careers. The group came together at SoFi Stadium to celebrate the young scholars from the Bolt Academy who successfully completed and graduated from the program.
Bolts Community Crew Packs JoyJars with Chargers Players and Staff
The Bolts Community Crew – powered by Pacific Premier Bank – partnered with the Jessie Rees Foundation to host a staff volunteer day at the Chargers' facility. Players including Rashawn Slater, Zion Johnson, Drue Tranquill, Dustin Hopkins, Donald Parham Jr., Christian Covington, and Zach Bailey volunteered alongside front office staff members to pack over 300 JoyJars that will be delivered to pediatric cancer patients. This past weekend, the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund hosted Chargers PREP Youth Football Camp, a one-day camp for 250 young athletes to develop and prepare their skills for the next level of football at the Bolts practice field in Costa Mesa.
Chargers x Nike '11-On' 2022
The Chargers hosted their second annual Nike 11-On event this past weekend at Long Beach Poly High School. Boys and Girls prep football programs from throughout Southern California were on hand to hear from All-Pro LT Rashawn Slater before competing in 7v7 drills, lineman challenges, character discussions and team building exercises.
Chargers Impact Fund & Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation Host Day of Education for Local Youth Sports Organizations
Earlier this month, the Bolts opened the doors to their practice facility – Hoag Performance Center – to over 200 educators, parks/rec staff, parents and youth football coaches for a day of education and training. Chargers corporate partner Lazy Dog provided lunch and the Chargers Impact Fund teamed up with the Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation and GENYOUth to provide flag football kits to attendees as a way to help implement flag football into their respective schools and communities.
Bolts Host TAKE CHARGE presented by American Airlines
Last weekend, the Chargers teamed up with American Airlines to host their annual _Take Charge_Summit for local high school football players from 50 schools throughout the Greater LA area. The student-athletes were hosted in the Bolts' locker room at SoFi Stadium where they discussed topics such as leadership, character, healthy relationships, social media awareness, and more with Chargers players Asante Samuel Jr. and Joshua Palmer. Participants will complete service projects in their community over the Summer months to earn tickets to a Bolts' home game in the Fall.

Chargers Participate in Youth Symposium with California Office of Traffic Safety
Over this past weekend, the Chargers and the California Office of Traffic Safety joined forces to raffle off bikes to Sigma Gamma Rho's Youth Symposium at California State University Long Beach. The Chargers and OTS collaborated to discuss bike safety tips and traveling safely while providing photo opportunities and giveaways as students participated in workshops centered around gaining lifelong skills.
The Future is Female
The Chargers, in partnership with Nike and the Rams, recently launched an exclusive Girls Flag Football pilot league featuring high schools throughout Los Angeles. This league will provide an opportunity for nearly 100 female student-athletes to learn and excel in the sport of football, while also laying the framework to eventually sanction Girls Flag Football as an official high school sports in the state of California. Participating schools include Crenshaw, YULA Girls School, Lawndale, Leuzinger, Redondo Union, Rise Kohyang, Inglewood and more.

2021 STEM on the Sidelines presented by Ducommun – Final Competition
Over the weekend, teams from high schools across Southern California competed in the 2021 STEM on the Sidelines presented by Ducommun final competition at SoFi Stadium. The competition was broken up in two categories - Category A: Design and Build Prototype and Category B: Chargers Minecraft World.
City of Inglewood 7th Annual Turkey Giveaway Presented by Pepsi
This week, heading into Thanksgiving, the Bolts teamed up with Pepsi to support the City of Inglewood's 7th Annual Turkey Giveaway. Chargers players Uchenna Nwosu, Joshua Kelley, Michael Davis, Matt Overton, Ben DeLuca and Justin Jones joined over 200 volunteers in the SoFi Stadium parking lot to distribute frozen turkeys, fresh produce and other Thanksgiving necessities to 2,500 local families.

The Chargers Impact Fund hosted a literacy event for the second grade class at Heninger Elementary in Santa Ana. Cornerback Michael Davis and Running Back Justin Jackson joined the Western Governors University volunteers and Playmakers to interact and read to the kids while teaching them the importance of literacy.

This event was part of the Chargers Impact Fund's First Downs for First Books program and saw every child receive two free books to take home with them.
Austin Ekeler Talks Youth Wellness at Bethune Middle School
Chargers Running Back Austin Ekeler visited Bethune Middle School in Los Angeles Unified to speak to over 200 students on the 'Four Quarters of Youth Wellness' – Breakfast, Mindfulness, Physical Activity and Sleep. Following the event, each student received a pillow courtesy of Sleep Number, and LAUSD was gifted with 300 flag football kits for their elementary and middle school P.E. programs.
Bolts Players, Ownership Volunteer for Hunger Action Month
Last week, in recognition of September as Hunger Action Month – Chargers Rookies, Chris Harris Jr., and team ownership all took time out of their schedules to partner with Melissa's Produce and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank by packing boxes of food for Compton's Anderson Elementary and the Salvation Army Siemon Youth & Community Center.
Snoop Dogg, Keenan Allen and Tom Telesco Surprise Inglewood Chargers with New Uniforms
Earlier this week, the Chargers and Nike finalized a donation of brand new custom uniforms for the Inglewood Chargers of the Snoop Youth Football League. Wide receiver Keenan Allen, General Manager Tom Telesco, and Rapper Snoop Dogg were all on hand to present the jerseys. The Chargers also provided funding to underwrite the registration fees of all approximately 150 players for the 2021 season.
On the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Chargers Legends Pack Meals for Those In-Need
Chargers Legends Antonio Gates and Marcellus Wiley joined members of the Bolts Community Crew – powered by Pacific Premier Bank – to volunteer at the Los Angeles Meal Pack honoring those lost on 9/11. All meals packaged during the LA Meal Pack are donated and distributed by Feeding America-affiliated food banks to assist children, families, seniors, and military veterans at risk of hunger.
Chargers Pay Respects with Helmet Donation
This week, the Chargers finalized a donation of 150 Xenith football helmets to Compton Centennial and Gardena High Schools as the two teams faced each other on the gridiron. The donation came about after the devastating shooting deaths of two students, who each attended the respective schools, in late 2020. During the game, each team wore stickers on their helmets with the students' initials.
Compton Centennial notched their first win of the season, beating Gardena 20-18 in overtime.
Girl Scouts Flag Football powered by Nike
Last Saturday, nearly 150 local Girl Scouts came together for a day of flag football skills and fundamentals on the Bolts' training camp fields at Jack Hammett Sports Complex. Participants heard from Chargers GM Tom Telesco and also received tickets to the team's preseason game vs. the 49ers at SoFi Stadium.
Bolt Academy Graduation Celebration with Chargers & Sofi

Derwin James and Oakley Host Free Vision Clinic with OneSight
On Sunday, Derwin James and Oakley teamed up with nonprofit OneSight to host a free vision clinic for kids and families in Inglewood's Edward Vincent Jr. Park. Attendees were given comprehensive eye exams and screenings, as well as a brand new set of prescription glasses.

Chargers, Pacific Premier Bank Complete First 'At-Home' Bolts Community Crew Event
As a way to launch the Bolts Community Crew, Chargers and Pacific Premier Bank employees volunteered—working remotely from home—to pack 5,000 hygiene kits supplied by Clean the World. The kits will then be distributed at Midnight Mission's skid-row facility to help reduce the risk of spreading infection for Angelenos who are experiencing homelessness.
Chargers, Pechanga Provide Bikes for Children in Southern California
Every holiday season for more than 15 years, the Chargers Impact Fund has partnered with the nonprofit Bikes for Kids to provide bicycles to children in Southern California. And while it looked different than in years past, we weren't going to let COVID stop one of our favorite events. Thanks to the generous support of Pechanga Resort Casino, 200 children received shiny new bicycles, bike helmets and locks this past Friday. The drive-thru event also featured a surprise appearance by Chargers cornerback Michael Davis, who joined the event virtually to wish all the kids and their parents a happy holiday!
Pepsi and Chargers Give Back to Families of Inglewood Unified School District
Thanks to the funds raised by the Jackboyz Pepsi t-shirt, the Chargers and Pepsi were able to hold a drive thru distribution event at Hudnall Elementary school in Inglewood, CA. Each family received winter gear, Pepsi products, and a $100 grocery gift card.
Read Across America Day 2020
The Los Angeles Chargers celebrated the 2020 edition of Read Across America Day with two events that emphasized the joy of reading. Justin Jones and the Charger Girls entertained groups from the Santa Ana school district at the team's training facility while Bolts legend Kassim Osgood joined the Charger Girls at Payne Elementary in Inglewood.
Fútbol Americano 101 / Jr. Chargers Training Camp
The Los Angeles Chargers teamed up with California Resources Corporation, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District to host a special Fùtbol Americano 101 training camp for students at Alliance Virgil Roberts Leadership Academy. Former Chargers Wide Receiver Anthony Miller and the Charger Girls attended our event teaching kids NFL-style drills & encouraging them to be healthy & active after school!

The Los Angeles Chargers and ROKiT teamed up to visit with patients at the Veteran Affairs hospital in Long Beach. Along with some room visits, Austin Ekeler, Isaac Rochell and Justin Jones sat down with some patients at the hospital to share a little bit of their own stories.

Ahead of Week 15, the Chargers and Vikings partnered to host a flag football game for Special Olympics athletes and partners from both Southern California and Minnesota prior to the Vikings/Chargers game at Dignity Health Sports Park. After the flag game, the teams were celebrated on the field prior to kickoff for their outstanding sportsmanship and passion.

Casey Hayward Jr., along with help from some teammates, played the role of Santa Claus earlier this week by surprising some deserving kids from the Irvine Chargers youth football team and the After School All-Stars with a Holiday shopping spree at Dick's Sporting Goods in Tustin.
Chargers Host 30th Annual Alex Spanos All-Star Classic
For the 30th straight season the top High School football players in the San Diego section gathered for the annual Alex Spanos All-Star Classic. This year's edition saw the North squad win for the fourth consecutive time, besting the South by a score of 44-7 on Saturday, December 14th, at Mesa College in San Diego, CA.

Aldahir Solis, a 14-year-old from Panama, made his first trip to the U.S. to have his Make-A-Wish fulfilled by the Los Angeles Chargers. Aldahir visited Hoag Performance Center and signed a one-day contract with the team, toured the Chargers facilities, met the players and was surprised by his favorite player Keenan Allen with tickets to the Vikings game.

On Tuesday, Charger Girls and former Chargers Defensive End Marcellus Wiley attended the championship round of the Compton Unified School District's E-Sports Tournament. After 2 months of E-Sports competition and STEM curriculum programming, the squad from Compton HS was crowned district champions, receiving Chargers tickets to commemorate their victory.
