The Chargers running back room has taken another blow as first-round pick Omarion Hampton was officially placed on Injured Reserve Wednesday due to an ankle injury he sustained late in Week 5.
And it means the Bolts backfield will be moving forward with Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal, both of whom are approaching arguably the biggest opportunity of their young careers.
"It's their time to shine," Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said on Monday.
Chargers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman added: "There's great opportunity for others to really make a name for themselves in this league. It's what they've been dreaming about since they were a kid. That's the exciting part of it."
The experience on offense is limited between the two running backs.
Haskins has garnered a total of 79 touches for 303 yards from scrimmage and three total touchdowns — all which came in 2024 — throughout his three seasons in the NFL.
He came in and played 14 offensive snaps following Hampton's injury in Week 5 and is now looking forward to taking full advantage of the opportunity ahead.
"The type of guy I am, I'm always looking to get better, run better, whatever the coaches need me to do I'm going to get better," Haskins said. "I feel like this week is going to be fun.
"I'm preparing really well and I'm ready to go out there and play," Haskins added.

Vidal, a 2024 sixth-round pick, has put together 53 touches for 236 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in 12 career games.
He got some opportunities last season due to injuries as well but saw his first extended action this past Sunday as well following the injury and rushed for 18 yards, including a long of 11.
After a preseason he felt could've been better, the second-year running back is looking forward to building on this past week.
"It felt good," Vidal said. "I wish my preseason went better in some of those games. It was good to get out there and try to fight."
"It was good to get in the game," Vidal added.
As far as what their approach looks like this week knowing they will be leaned on, the pair of running backs both echoed it was business as usual.
Haskins said it was something that the two didn't have to mention as they are well aware of what's in front of them.
It's life in the NFL, and they're ready for whatever they have to do going forward.
"I'm always prepared. In the beginning of the season, no matter where I am in the depth chart, I'm always preparing like I'm going to be out there starting or whatever," Haskins said. "I'm always prepared to go and get the job done."
Vidal added: "I'm just preparing for whatever. 20 carries, 25 carries, two carries, I'm going to give it my all to every single play I get and every single opportunity. That's how it is in the NFL, you have to treat it that way."
Roman acknowledged that while there is no clear-cut lead guy, they will both be prepared for how the game unfolds.
"They're going to be big factors in the game," Roman said. "How it's going to unfold from a rep count standpoint, we shall see. It can go a bunch of different ways in that regard."
He later added: "I look at it as all hands on deck. We're going to have to really work together on all this. It's going to be hot down there and those guys have to be ready to spell each other at any point in time and work together."
The Chargers offense is excited to see what the two do in what's a major chance in their careers.
"They got great attitudes," Roman said. "They've been waiting for their time to impact the games."
He later added: "They're going to be the lead dogs this week and I know they're chomping at the bit. Feel really good about them and I'm excited for them. It's a big opportunity."
