Chargers Sign CB Trovon Reed to Active Roster

The San Diego Chargers announced on Tuesday that Trovon Reed has been signed to the active roster from the team's practice squad. The cornerback takes Brandon Mebane's roster spot as the nose tackle was placed on the Reserve-Injured list after suffering a biceps injury against the Miami Dolphins.

A 6-0, 191-pound product out of Auburn, Reed joined the Bolts' practice squad on Oct. 26. He initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2015, spending portions of last season on the Seahawks, Dolphins and Rams practice squads. The cornerback appeared in three preseason games with Seattle this year.

Reed spent his first four years at Auburn as a wide receiver before switching to cornerback as a senior in 2014. He closed out his collegiate career with a memorable performance in the Outback Bowl, recording three tackles and one interception.

Mebane's season officially comes to an end after posting 35 total tackles, 15 pressures, six QB hits, four tackles for loss, one sack and his first career interception.  He led all Chargers defensive linemen in tackles.
