Esa es la cruda realidad. Se podrĂa hablar de mejorĂa, la cual indudablemente existiĂł, especialmente en defensa. Pero el equipo se mantiene sin ganar.
"Lo que me da esperanza es la gente, nuestro equipo," dijo el head coach Jim Harbaugh. "No negamos el que lo queremos, la lucha estĂĄ ahĂ. Seguir construyendo sobre eso, seguir adelante, pero no hay dudas que aĂșn no hemos sido lo suficientemente buenos. Eso es lo que tenemos que mejorar."
Ante uno de los mejores equipos de la liga, se hicieron muchas cosas bien para regresar a Los Ăngeles con la primera victoria del año. Eso es lo que mĂĄs duele.
La defensa gĂ©nero cinco pĂ©rdidas de los Bills, de las cuales se consiguieron apenas 10 puntos. Es difĂcil perder un partido asĂ. De hecho los Bills no ganaban uno similar desde 1997.
"Estamos 0-3. No estamos donde queremos estar," dijo Justin Herbert.

Se puede mantener la convicciĂłn grupal y decir todas las cosas correctas, pero como decĂa el safety Derwin James Jr. esta liga no es de merecimiento o mejoras.
"Estamos mejorando cada partido. Se que esta no es una liga donde se premian las mejoras. Es una liga de victorias y derrotas. Siento que estamos mejorando. Tenemos que seguir atacando, es todo lo que podemos hacer," dijo James.
Llegar a playoffs después de un inicio de 0-3 no es normal. De hecho menos de un cinco por ciento de los equipos que comenzaron la temporada asà jugaron football de postemporada en Enero.
Es muy difĂcil de conseguir, pero no imposible.
"En serio tenemos que encontrar la manera de ganar, sea como sea. Eso es lo que estamos buscando, encontrar la forma de ganar. Se vea cĂłmo se vea,"Â afirmaba el esquinero Tarheeb Still. La unidad coordinada por Chris O'Leary tuvo su mejor performance del año. Una y otra vez poniendo en aprietos al Ășltimo MVP Josh Allen y la eficiente mĂĄquina ofensiva de los Bills.
"QuerĂamos salir y quedarnos con la pelota," afirmaba Still.
Y quedarse con la pelota hicieron.
En cinco oportunidades, comenzando con la primera jugada del partido, la defensa de los Bolts impuso términos en el flamante Highmark Stadium.
AllĂ Justin Eboigbe golpeĂł la pelota fuera de las manos del RB James Cook III y Daiyan Henley la recuperĂł. Producto de esta jugada los del rayo anotaron su Ășnico TD del partido.
El rookie de Arizona Genesis Smith terminĂł con dos intercepciones en ofensivas consecutivas de los Bills en la primera mitad.
Para la segunda, Still le golpeĂł el balĂłn al TE Dalton Kincaid cerca de la yarda 10 de Chargers y lo recuperĂł Tony Jefferson.
La Ășltima recuperaciĂłn de ovoide fue en el Ășltimo cuarto producto de un strip sack de Khalil Mack (su captura 115 de QB en la NFL) y balĂłn recuperado por Henley.
Una y otra vez la defensa hizo su trabajo.
"Enfrentar a una ofensiva dinĂĄmica como esta, siento que tienen a un QB top, top RB," decĂa James Jr. "Tienen muchos tipos que pueden hacer jugadas. Los alas cerradas son buenos."

Con 10' por jugar en el Ășltimo cuarto y con los Bills abajo 10-13 y una segunda y 26 en la yarda 40 de Chargers, el OLB Akheem Mesidor capturĂł a Allen en una de sus tĂpicas corridas haciĂ©ndolo perder el ovoide, la pelota fue recuperada por Tuli Tuipulotu (quien terminĂł con una y media de las 4 capturas y media que tuvo la unidad sobre Allen).
Tras revisiĂłn de video se determinĂł que Allen ya habĂa hecho contacto con el pasto antes de perder la pelota. Aun asĂ habrĂa sido una tercera y 18 en la yarda 32 de Chargers, casi con toda seguridad limitando a los Bills a un gol de campo para igualar el marcador.
Sin embargo los ĂĄrbitros determinaron una falta en la profundidad del novato Rodney Shelley lo que le dio a Buffalo tres oportunidades nuevas. La jugada terminĂł con TD de Josh Allen desde la yarda uno y los Bills nunca mĂĄs volvieron a estar abajo en el marcador.

Oportunidades Desperdiciadas en Ofensiva
DespuĂ©s del primer TD del juego conseguido por Keaton Mitchell (cortesĂa de la defensa del rayo), y un gol de campo de 31 yardas de Cameron Dicker (el segundo pateador en la historia de la NFL que mĂĄs rĂĄpido llegĂł a los 130 goles de campo anotados, consiguiendolo en su partido 65) la ofensiva del rayo volviĂł a ser una unidad sin ritmo ni ejecuciĂłn.
Seis puntos se anotaron en la segunda mitad, con los Ășltimos tres siendo casi al final del partido cuando todo estaba definido.
Tres de las cinco pelotas recuperadas por la defensa terminaron en despejes de JK Scott.
"No fuimos lo suficientemente buenos. La defensa jugĂł tan bien, generĂł tantas pĂ©rdidas y la ofensiva no los ayudo," decĂa Herbert. "No nos sentimos bien al respecto, y comienza conmigo."

Una ofensiva que se suponĂa serĂa una de las mĂĄs productivas de la NFL simplemente no termina de encontrar su funcionamiento. Y las semanas avanzan y la ventana de oportunidad se continĂșa haciendo cada vez mĂĄs pequeña.
Pocas oportunidades dolieron mĂĄs que la tenida en el inicio de la segunda mitad. Casi nueve minutos de posesiĂłn terminaron con la pelota en la yarda tres de Buffalo. Con tres oportunidades de anotar el TD.

"Siento que deberĂamos estar muy molestos," dijo McConkey. "Estamos 0-3 tras tres partidos que siento pudimos ganar. Hemos tenido oportunidades. La defensa jugĂł muy bien y necesitamos anotar mĂĄs puntos."
