We're now less than three weeks away from the 2026 NFL Draft.

ESPN's Matt Bowen recently took a look at the 2026 draft class and picked out 20 players whom he believes can find a perfect fit in the NFL.

Bowen highlighted Indiana cornerback D'Angelo Ponds and noted he could potentially thrive with the Bolts if they land him later this month.

Bowen wrote:

Under new coordinator Chris O'Leary, the Chargers will likely play a lot of zone match coverage. That would cater to the ability of Ponds, who has the short-area speed to close on the ball and can match up well on intermediate routes. Ponds is also competitive at the catch point, finishing with two interceptions and 10 pass breakups last season. And he's a competitive run defender despite his size.

Bowen noted that Ponds, who is listed at 5-foot-9 and 173 pounds, could be an option for the Chargers in Round 2 at the 55th overall pick.

Ponds played one year at James Madison before transferring to Indiana for his final two college seasons. He tallied seven total interceptions and had 33 passes defensed to go along with two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Ponds is viewed as the sixth-ranked cornerback in this draft class, as The Athletic's Dane Brugler, ESPN's Jordan Reid and Pro Football Focus all have him at that spot.

His overall ranking varies a bit, with Brugler tabbing him as his No. 40 overall prospect.

Brugler wrote:

Ponds has been the smallest player on the field since pee-wee ball, which has created a permanent chip on his shoulder — and sharpened his skills in other areas. Using quick-twitch footwork and body control, he has the cover talent to play tight in man to man or bait and drive from depth. He defends with a confident swagger, although bigger athletes will have an unquestioned advantage against him.

PFF ranked Ponds at No. 43 overall while Reid had him in his final spot on his Top 50 prospects list.
