The countdown to the 2026 NFL Draft is officially one month away.
The Chargers currently hold the No. 22 overall pick and have five total selections in the draft. The Bolts have each of their picks in the first four rounds plus a sixth-round selection.
With draft buzz heating up and free agency mostly in the books, which positions could the Chargers target in April?
Dalton Wasserman of Pro Football Focus recently took a look at the top draft needs for each NFL team, and selected guard and edge rusher for the Bolts.
Wasserman wrote:
The Chargers did well to fill their starting center position with former Commander Tyler Biadasz. However, their current projected starting guards are Trevor Penning and Cole Strange ... [who] is familiar with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Los Angeles needs to do anything it can to continue to improve the offensive line.
Strange, a recent free-agent addition, was a 2022 first-round pick by the Patriots who spent the 2025 season in Miami with McDaniel.
The Chargers acquired Penning in a 2025 trade deadline day deal. The former first-round pick made six total starts for the Bolts last season and could compete at left guard in 2026.
As for the edger rusher group, the Chargers are set at the top with Tuli Tuipulotu and Khalil Mack, the latter of whom returned to the Bolts in free agency. Tuipulotu posted a Pro Bowl season in 2025 with a career-high 13.0 sacks.
But Wasserman noted the Bolts could opt to add some depth to this group in the draft, especially after Odafe Oweh signed with Washington in free agency.
He wrote:
Tuli Tuipulotu and Khalil Mack remain solid contributors, but we should expect the team to scour a deep edge defender class for additional help.
The Chargers also have Bud Dupree, Kyle Kennard and Garmon Randolph under contract in 2026.
