The NFL's legal tampering period is underway, but the Chargers have already been busy over the last couple of days.
The Chargers made three moves official on the eve of free agency, including a big one filling a need at center with Tyler Biadasz.
Biadasz joins the Chargers after a pair of seasons in Washington, where he became a steady veteran playing over 900 offensive snaps each season and allowing four total sacks and no quarterback hits.
And for the Bolts, this move was a home run before the New League Year kicked off.
Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer gave the team an ‘A grade’ for the signing, as quick thinking helped the Chargers secure a position of need.
Iyer wrote:
The Chargers needed a replacement fast for retiring Bradley Bozeman and jumped on the former Commander and Cowboy at a reasonable price.
The Athletic's Daniel Popper also gave the team a high grade with an 'A-'.
Not only did the Chargers fill in a starter position on an important offensive line, they did so by signing a reliable veteran who upgrades the position.
Popper wrote:
This was a smart move for a team that needed an upgrade in the middle of its offensive line. Bradley Bozeman, who retired earlier this offseason, was a weak point for the Chargers over the past two seasons. The Chargers could have shopped at the top of the center market… instead they signed a savvy, experienced player in Biadasz at a much lower price point, giving them additional flexibility moving further into free agency.

Another big Chargers move over the weekend was bringing back Khalil Mack, an integral part of the defense over the last four seasons.
Mack finished last season with 5.5 sacks, a number that pushed him to 113.0 for his career, despite missing four games with an elbow injury.
Not to mention the value he brings as a leader to his position room and the unit overall.
Popper gave them a ‘B+ grade’ for bringing back the future Hall of Famer as he continues his quest for postseason success in the powder blue — who are now the team he's spent the longest with in the NFL.
Popper wrote:
Though he is entering his age-35 season, Mack is still impactful as a run defender and pass rusher. He missed most of the first half of last season with a dislocated elbow, and that affected his production. Fully guaranteed one-year deals are not ideal from a cap standpoint. Spreading money over multiple seasons provides more flexibility. But Mack is absolutely worth this money. He enters 2026 with one missing item from his Hall of Fame resume: a playoff win. He believes he can get it done with Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert in L.A.
