Where Are the Chargers in Early 2026 Offseason Power Rankings?

OffseasonPR

The 2026 NFL offseason is here.

With the 2025 season officially in the books, the focus now turns to the offseason events such as the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft.

NFL analysts and publications have released their power rankings. Take a look at where the Bolts are ranked as they enter the offseason.

No. 5: Frank Schwab – Yahoo Sports

The Chargers are in a great spot. They won 11 games despite losing two stellar offensive tackles. You can't assume Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater won't be lessened by their season-ending injuries, but if they return near their normal level, Los Angeles could have an elite roster. Losing defensive coordinator Jesse Minter hurts, but adding Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator should be a plus for Justin Herbert. The Chargers also have the fourth-most projected cap space in the NFL. This could be the season the Chargers break through.

No. 8: Nate Davis – USA Today

What is this team capable of with two All-Pro-caliber offensive tackles, a healthy running back room and Mike McDaniel taking charge of QB Justin Herbert and the offense? Can't wait to see.

No. 9: Ralph Vacchiano – FOX Sports

They have all the pieces in place to be a contender except one: the offensive line. If they can fix that, and stay healthy, and keep QB Justin Herbert in one piece, there's no reason they won't be a top team in the AFC.

No. 10: Eric Edholm – NFL.com

If losing defensive coordinator Jesse Minter is seen as a blow, the addition of Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator might be one the best upgrades of the offseason so far. At the very least, the McDaniel-Jim Harbaugh pairing will be interesting, but Justin Herbert figures to be the beneficiary -- assuming the Chargers can make the proper offseason roster upgrades... They must assume the Broncos will be back and that the Chiefs aren't likely to suffer another non-winning season. The sledding will be tough, but the Chargers are still worth keeping an eye on.

No. 12: Gary Davenport – Bleacher Report

The Los Angeles Chargers are never short on offseason buzz. They hired Mike McDaniel ... for the offensive coordinator position, and it may be the move that brings the best out of Justin Herbert.

Regardless, skeptics will wait to see what the Chargers do in the playoffs before they start to believe in a club that has wilted in its last two postseason appearances. That said, having two healthy tackles in Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt will certainly go a long way in helping the Chargers make a playoff run next year.

No. 12: Pete Prisco – CBS Sports

Bringing in Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator will really get that side of the ball going. The health of the offensive line will as well.

The Los Angeles Chargers brought flag football to Greece, hosting their first Flag Football Camps and Exhibition Games on Thursday, Feb. 5 and Friday, Feb. 6, 2026. The two-day initiative began at Anatolia College in Northern Greece before continuing in Athens at Deree – The American College of Greece, where students learned and experienced the fast-growing, non-contact version of American football alongside Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley.

In addition to the on-field action, Henley explored Athens, touring historic landmarks including the Acropolis and a local museum, as the Chargers delivered an unforgettable NFL-inspired experience blending sport, education, and culture ahead of flag football's Olympic debut at the LA 2028 Games.

No. 12: Chad Graff & Josh Kendall – The Athletic

No. 13: Vinnie Iyer – Sporting News

The Chargers will hope for a better run of health at running back and the offensive line to help Justin Herbert's play improve in Mike McDaniel's system.

No. 15: NFL Nation, Kris Rhim – ESPN

Offseason in three words: Secure the edge

The anchor of the Chargers' defense has been their edge group. But Odafe Oweh and Khalil Mack are unrestricted free agents, and Tuli Tuipulotu is eligible for a contract extension ahead of the final year in his rookie deal. The Chargers' rush defense struggled significantly when Mack was sidelined with an elbow injury this season. And the 27-year-old Oweh, fresh off a single-game postseason-record three sacks against New England, will demand interest in free agency. Tuipulotu's 13.5 sacks were the sixth most in the league. General manager Joe Hortiz will have his hands full trying to keep this group intact.
