The Chargers will have a different starting quarterback then their preseason opener.

Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday that Taylor Heinicke will start on Sunday against the Saints. Kickoff against New Orleans is at 1:05 p.m. (PT) from SoFi Stadium.

Harbaugh was then asked how long Heinicke will play.

"At least two [drives], maybe more," Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh said Trey Lance will then come in the game and play the majority of the contest against the Saints.

Lance started in the 2025 Hall of Fame Game and played 47 snaps in the 34-7 win against the Lions.

Lance completed 13 of 20 passes for 120 yards and two scores in the preseason opener and was in control for three quarters of action

He finished with a quarterback rating 114.6 and guided the Bolts to points in five of his nine offensive drives he was under center.

DJ Uiagalelei, who came in for the final quarter in the preseason opener, will play the latter part of the game.

Harbaugh also noted that cornerbacks Tarheeb Still and Benjamin St-Juste, both of whom were working through something last week, are expected to see action against New Orleans.
