The Los Angeles Chargers today signed cornerback Nehemiah Shelton. In a corresponding move, the team waived/injured cornerback Jordan Oladokun.
Shelton returns to the Chargers, where he spent time on the practice squad last season. He first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets in 2023. A native of Gardena, Calif., Shelton played in 45 games over five seasons (2018-22) at San Jose State after spending the 2017 season at Long Beach City College. He earned honorable mention All-Mountain West recognition in each of his final two years for the Spartans, while also earning first-team All-Central League in 2017. In all, Shelton totaled 195 tackles (152 solo), eight interceptions, 32 pass breakups, 3.5 tackles, two forced fumbles and a pair of recoveries at San Jose State.
