Los Angeles Chargers Sign Shaq Quarterman

The Los Angeles Chargers today signed linebacker Shaq Quarterman. In a corresponding move, the team waived tight end/fullback Ben Mason.

Quarterman, a 2020 fourth-round selection by Jacksonville, appeared in 65 total games (63 regular season, two postseason) with the Jaguars over four seasons (2020-23). Over his career, Quarterman has totaled 29 tackles (16 solo), a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and 25 special teams tackles in the regular season, while also adding a defensive stop in the playoffs. He played collegiately for four seasons (2016-19) at Miami, appearing in 52 games for the Hurricanes and posting 292 tackles (182 solo), 13.0 sacks, an interception, 13 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and five recoveries. Quarterman was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2018 and a second-team choice in 2017. The Orange Park, Fla., native will wear No. 58 for the Chargers.
