Due to his performance in the Week 8, 17-16 win over the Chicago Bears, Joey Bosa earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. It is the first weekly accolade for the defensive end in 2019. His brother, Nick Bosa of the 49ers, earned the same honor for the NFC in Week 8.
Bosa had 2.0 sacks in the game – both coming on third down – which marked his second-straight game with two-plus sacks. That feat made him the first Charger with back-to-back games with at least two sacks since 2010 (LB Kevin Burnett).
Additionally, Bosa finished the game with seven total tackles, three quarterback hits and four tackles for loss.
