The Chargers are 1-0 after getting a 27-21 win over the Chiefs in Brazil.
Here's a game recap from Week 1.
Turning Point
It was crunch time for the Bolts.
Leading 20-18 with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Chargers got the ball back at their own 26-yard line.
The Chargers offense rose to the occasion, putting together a masterful 11-play, 74-yard scoring drive that all but sealed the deal.
Perhaps the biggest play of the drive was when Justin Herbert found Keenan Allen for nine yards on third-and-7 from their own 40-yard line.
The Chargers later converted a third-and-1 when tight end Tyler Conklin ran a sneak up the middle that gained two yards.
That led to Quentin Johnston's second touchdown of the night, which put the Chargers up by two scores.
Kansas City added a field goal on the next possession to make it 27-21, but Herbert clinched the win with a massive 19-yard scramble on third-and-14.
Herbert threw for 318 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 1 win.
Top Play
Johnston had himself a night to remember in the 2025 season opener.
The third-year wide receiver caught the Chargers first touchdown of the night (and the season) in the first quarter.
But it was his second score of the night that helped seal the deal for the Chargers when it mattered most.
Johnston's two-score night was the second of his career following a similar result in Week 2 at Carolina last season.
Overall, Johnston finished with five catches for 79 yards.
Key Stat
The Chargers defense was almost lights out in the first half, especially on third down.
The Bolts didn't allow the Chiefs to convert any of the seven tries on third down, a stretch that included a sack from Daiyan Henley in the red zone.
Kansas City ranked second in the NFL win third-down conversion rate in 2024 at 48.47 percent.
