The Los Angeles Chargers today agreed to terms with Pro Bowl fullback Alec Ingold on a multi-year contract.
Ingold comes to Los Angeles as one of football's top fullbacks and is reunited with Chargers Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel, who Ingold played for over the last four seasons with the Dolphins when McDaniel was Miami's head coach. Ingold appeared in 68 games with Miami (including the postseason), making 48 starts and working as a key weapon for a Dolphins offense that was the NFL's top unit in 2023, leading the league that season in total offense (401.3 net yards per game) and passing offense (265.5 net passing yards per game). Ingold helped the Dolphins rank as the No. 8 offense in the NFL over those four seasons.
Prior to his time in Miami, Ingold played three seasons for the Raiders (2019-21) after signing as an undrafted free agent. With the Raiders, he helped the team rank eighth in the NFL in total offense in 2020 and finish the 2021 season as the league's No. 6 passing offense. Over the course of his seven-year NFL career, Ingold has started 58-of-107 regular-season games played, totaling 611 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 75 catches (8.1 avg.) and adding 56 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He has helped pave the way for four 1,000-yard rushers, including running back Josh Jacobs in 2019 to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America.
Ingold played in 51 career games over four seasons at the University of Wisconsin (2015-18), making 11 starts at fullback. He began his career as a linebacker before transitioning to fullback, finishing his time in Madison, Wis., with 343 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 14 receptions for 185 yards (13.2 avg.) and four scores, averaging a touchdown every 5.6 touches. A team captain in 2018, Ingold helped the Badgers win four Bowl games over his career and finish ranked inside the top-10 twice (No. 9 in 2016 and No. 7 in 2017).
The Los Angeles Chargers agreed to terms with Pro Bowl fullback Alec Ingold on a multi-year contract.
