On Chargers offense…

"They're still an offense that you have to do your best to have a chance to slow them down. They've got both backs back for their playoff run and it's going to be obviously hard for us to get them stopped. And anybody else playing them in the playoffs, it's going to be hard to get them stopped. … It's a complete offense. To have a chance to win the game, we've got to play our best game we've played on defense to slow them down. … It's a fun group when you watch them schematically. I like what Coach Whisenhunt's doing there, adding the jet sweeps and those things that definitely keep the defenses off balance." – Head Coach Vance Joseph

On Philip Rivers…

"I thought when we played the first time, even though Philip's numbers weren't crazy, I thought he was playing the best ball of his career because the running game kept them balanced. He wasn't dropping back a lot and turning the ball over a lot, which makes you guys hard to beat because if he does that with that defense and that talent around him, they're going to be a tough out. … If Philip gets hot with no pressure, he can be an issue. It's almost impossible because he knows where the ball is going before you do. That's a trait that he has and it's tough to defend." – Head Coach Vance Joseph

"I think Mike Williams has found his voice as a top 10 pick. He is a guy that's making a lot of plays on reverses and sweeps and making plays down the field. He's playing with big-time confidence and when you combine both Williams guys and Keenan (Allen) and both backs, along with Gatesy (Antonio Gates) on third downs and Virgil (Green) on first, second downs, it makes it a tough out for any defense facing this team." – Head Coach Vance Joseph

On Antonio Gates…

"I remember going back—not to tell stories—when I was at Grand Valley State way back in the day. I'm going to age myself, but … I think he was the No. 4-rated high school player in the state of Michigan. He chose to play basketball, but he always had that ability. To see him doing it at an older age, it's good to see. I think he still has juice and I think he can still play really well." – Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods

"Defensively, when I watch them, I see a young, aggressive defense that runs and hits. … They're all great tacklers. When a ball is caught or when the ball pops the first level, (you see) how those DBs can cover it up with speed and they're all great tacklers." – Head Coach Vance Joseph

"This guy is a good football player. I remember watching him coming out and I wasn't sure what he was going to play for us, but you knew he was going to be a good football player. On Derwin James…

"Derwin James obviously is a great player, being close to the box and covering tight ends, dropping in coverage and blitzing. One thing that he does well that gives offenses problems is blitzing." – Head Coach Vance Joseph
