Game Recap: Chargers Outlast Eagles in Overtime as Tony Jefferson Gets Game-Winning INT

GameRecapEagles

The Chargers are 9-4 after a wild 22-19 overtime win over the Eagles on Monday night.

Here's a game recap from Week 14:

Turning Point

The Chargers and Eagles had played a tough and physical game on primetime as the third quarter came to a close.

The teams then turned up the fireworks in the fourth quarter as the Eagles scored on a 52-yard run to put the Bolts behind for the first time all night.

The Chargers clawed back thanks to a timely interception from Cam Hart, who recorded the first pick of his career early in the fourth quarter.

Hart's takeaway led to a 31-yard field goal by Cameron Dicker as the Chargers tied the game at 16 midway through the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia took a 19-16 lead with 2:16 left before Justin Herbert drove the Chargers into field goal range as a 46-yard field goal from Cameron Dicker sent the game to overtime.

The Chargers got the ball first in overtime and quickly moved into Eagles territory before Dicker hit a 54-yard field goal to give the Bolts a 22-19 lead.

The Eagles then got the ball and marched into Chargers territory before facing fourth-and-4 at the 41 but the Bolts were called for a 5-yard penalty.

The Eagles were in the red zone but Tony Jefferson sealed the win with a crazy interception.

Top Play

This might actually be the play of the season for the Chargers.

Key Stat

There were turnovers galore on Monday night, especially in the second quarter when each team had three.

According to ESPN, that was the most turnovers in a quarter since Week 8 of 2013 when Denver and Washington combined for seven.

The wildest play came when there were a whopping three turnovers on a single play.

With the Eagles offense facing a third-and 1, the Chargers defense showed pressure before Da'Shawn Hand dropped into coverage and intercepted Jalen Hurts.

But on the return, Eagles running back Will Shipley forced the ball out of Hand's hand, which was recovered by Hurts.

And if things weren't wild enough, Chargers rookie Jamaree Caldwell then forced a fumble on Hurts, which was recovered by linebacker Troy Dye after the pigskin tumbled around on the turf.

Donte Jackson also had an interception in the quarter for the Chargers, who had Herbert throw an interception and lose a fumble against the Eagles.

All in all, Monday night's game featured eight total turnovers.
