Mock Draft Tracker 5.0: Free Agency Edition

With the Los Angeles Chargers picking 17th in the 2018 NFL Draft, here are the 28 most recent players selected 17th overall.

In order to serve all Chargers fans, Chargers.com has compiled a list of who some top draft pundits are projecting the Bolts will select with the 17th pick in the draft.

With free agency in full swing, it's time to take the latest look at who top pundits and experts predict the Bolts could select in the first round of the draft on Apr. 26.

ESPN's Todd McShay:  LB Rashaan Evans – Alabama

What he says: "Los Angeles' defense is strong but needs an upgrade at linebacker, and Evans is a thumper in the running game. He plays with tremendous effort and has sneaky pass-rush ability as well."

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks:  OT Mike McGlinchey – Notre Dame

What he says: "Rock-solid offensive tackle prospect provides more protection for Philip Rivers on the right side."

SBNation's Draft Editor Dan Kadar: DT Da'Ron Payne – Alabama

What he says: "The Chargers would probably love to see Smith or Edmunds available when they pick, but Payne fills a big need on the defensive line. He's a pro-ready run stopper who at times flashed the ability to get after the quarterback."

NFLDraftScout's Dane Brugler: OT Kolton Miller – UCLA

What he says: "The Chargers focused on the interior offensive line in last year's draft and could look to add youth at tackle this spring. Miller doesn't have first-round tape, but the raw traits and testing numbers could land him in the top-20 picks."

NFLDraftScout's Rob Rang: DT Da'Ron Payne – Alabama

What he says: "The Chargers — who ranked last in the league in 2017 by allowing 4.9 yards per carry — would likely jump at the chance to fortify the middle with the powerful (and aptly named) Payne."

CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco: LB Roquan Smith – Georgia

What he says: "They can't pass up a quality player in this spot who can help a position in need. Smith can fly and we know Gus Bradley loves speed linebackers."

CBSSports.com's Chris Trapasso:  DT Vita Vea – Washington

What he says: "Quarterback is a possibility here. Don't rule it out. However, in this mock, the Chargers continue to build their top-flight defensive front with Vea, a nose tackle boasting scary athleticism and underrated ability as a pass-rusher...A massive nose tackle with impressive pass-rushing skill to place between their superstar duo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram on the edge"

CBSSports.com's Will Brinson:  OT Mike McGlinchey – Notre Dame

What he says: "Another way to beef up the protection for Philip Rivers, this is a really nice value to add this late in the draft."

USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz: DT Da'Ron Payne – Alabama

What he says: "The Bolts largely stood pat in free agency, which spells trouble for a run defense that gave up a league-worst 4.9 yards a carry last season. Payne creates a serious push in the middle."

Sporting News' Erick Galko: LB Roquan Smith – Georgia

What he says: "The Chargers have done a masterful job building their defense, and one more leader inside could come close to completing what has a chance to be the NFL's top unit in 2018. Smith deserves to go higher than this, but he might slip due to positional value."
