Military Hero: Petty Officer 2nd Class Sidney Williams.

Enlisting in the armed forces has opened all kinds of doors for Petty Officer 2nd Class Sidney Williams.

Williams, from Norfolk, Virginia, enlisted in the Navy in November 2007 and attended Personnel Specialist "A" school at Meridian, Mississippi.   Upon graduation from her service school she was assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale where she helped maintain and audit pay and personnel records of the crew.  In 2011, while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, she converted to the Legalman rating where she performs paralegal duties under the direction and supervision of Judge Advocates in providing and administering legal services.   Her follow-on tours included USS Harry S. Truman, Strike Fighter Squadron 106 and USNS Fall River.  She is currently assigned to Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet where she provides legal support to four attorneys in the Judge Advocate General office and processes military justice cases from across the Pacific Fleet.

During her nine years of service, Williams completed two deployments and has made port calls to Dubai, Bahrain, Spain, France, Singapore, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Vietnam.  She holds an associate's degree in Paralegal Studies from Roger Williams University and is currently pursuing bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Ashford University.  For her outstanding professional performance, she was recognized as a Junior Sailor of the Quarter in 2015 and 2017.
