The Los Angeles Chargers added a new safety to the mix on Sunday as they were awarded Micah Hannemann off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. The Bolts also announced they've placed defensive back Jaylen Watkins on the Reserve/Injured list. Watkins suffered an ACL injury late in the first half of Saturday's preseason win over the Seattle Seahawks.

The 6-0, 195-pound Hannemann initially signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Brigham Young in late April. He reunites with cornerback Michael Davis in L.A. as the pair patrolled the secondary together at BYU.

Overall, Hannemann appeared in 44 career games with the Cougars, appearing in 15 at cornerback in 2015 before starting his final 22 at safety from 2016-17. Overall, he totaled 123 tackles, 14 passes defensed and four interceptions. Hannemann appeared in Cleveland's first two preseason games this summer, recording four tackles.
