The Chargers are 4-3 after a 38-24 home loss to the Colts on Sunday.
Here's a game recap from Week 7:
Turning Point
The Chargers got off to a sluggish start Sunday but were hanging around early in the second quarter.
Down by 10 points, the Bolts defense had the Colts in a third-and-17 situation, meaning a stop could give the team some momentum and try to cut into the deficit before halftime.
But the Chargers allowed a 48-yard pass play on that third down before the Colts found the end zone for the third straight drive to open the game.
Instead of potentially being down one possession with an offensive score, the Chargers fell behind 20-3 nearing the midway point of the second quarter.
To make matters worse, the Chargers drove near the red zone but Justin Herbert was intercepted off a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage.
And while the Bolts defense forced a quick three-and-out after the turnover, the Chargers next offensive possession ended with a turnover, too, as Herbert was intercepted in the end zone.
The Colts turned that into a field goal as the Bolts trailed 23-3 at halftime.
The Chargers fought back with a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes from Herbert to Quentin Johnston and Keenan Allen, respectively.
But the Colts scored on both of their third-quarter possessions, too, to keep the Bolts down by double digits.
The Chargers got the ball back early in the fourth quarter down by 14 points and drove into Colts territory looking to make it a one-score game, but a sack and a penalty led to a fourth-and-27 play that the Bolts couldn't convert.
Top Play
Oronde Gadsden had a breakout day on offense.
The Chargers rookie tight end posted his first career 100-yard game in Week 7 against the Colts early in the third quarter.
And he only needed three catches to do it.
Gadsden hauled in gains of 22 and 30 before exploding for a career-long 53 yard catch and run to start the second half.
Gadsden became the first Chargers tight end in franchise history with 100 receiving yards since 2019 when Hunter Henry hit the mark against the Steelers.
Gadsden kept balling out in the second half when he record the first touchdown of his career on a 15-yard reception on third down.
Overall, Gadsden finished with seven catches for 164 yards and a score. His yardage is the fourth-most by a Chargers tight end in a game in franchise history.
Key Stat
The Chargers defense couldn't get off the field in the first half, especially on fourth down.
The Bolts defense allowed three separate fourth-down conversions to the Colts — all of which came on the same drive.
The Colts converted in fourth-and-1 early in the drive with a 1-yard run that was initially short, but replay officials awarded Indianapolis the first down.
The Colts later converted another fourth-and-1 before a fourth-and-2 at the 4-yard line turned into a 4-yard touchdown pass.
