The Chargers are 5-3 after a 37-10 win over the Vikings on Thursday night.
Here's a game recap from Week 8:
Turning Point
The Chargers wore their all-navy Super Chargers uniforms on Thursday night.
And it led to a super performance from the Bolts.
But the game-changing play might have come just four minutes into the game when Justin Herbert threw what looked to be a pick 6 on the Bolts first offensive possession. The play was overturned, however, as the Chargers kept possession and converted the ensuing third down.
It was all Chargers from there.
The Bolts later scored on their opening possession when Herbert hit Oronde Gadsden for an 8-yard touchdown pass.
The Chargers then scored on their second drive when Kimani Vidal powered in for a 3-yard score, the first touchdown run of his career.
The back-to-back scores marked the first time the Chargers scored touchdowns on their first two possessions in the Jim Harbaugh Era.
Herbert later hit Ladd McConkey for a 27-yard touchdown pass as the Chargers rolled to 21 points in the opening half.
McConkey's touchdown game with less than a minute to play in the opening half. The Bolts then got the ball to open the second half and kicked a field goal as the ran off a 10-0 run in the "Middle 8" portion of the game.
The Bolts defense, meanwhile, allowed just three points in the opening half in an energized performance. After a few poor games, the unit flew around and harassed Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz.
All in all, the Chargers defense sacked Wentz five times Thursday night, with Justin Eboigbe leading the way with two of them. Khalil Mack, Tuli Tuipulotu and Odafe Oweh each also got to Wentz in primetime.
Minnesota scored late in the third quarter to cut the Chargers lead to 24-10, but the Bolts responded by putting together a 12-play, 73-yard touchdown drive to go up by 21 points.
Top Play
Herbert's 27-yard touchdown pass to McConkey was a thing of beauty.
For one, McConkey roasted his defender off the line of scrimmage and reached 20-plus miles per hour on his go route.
And Herbert delivered an absolute dime on the play to his second touchdown pass of the night.
All in all, Herbert completed 18 of 25 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns against the Vikings for a passer rating of 122.8.
He's now thrown for 632 yards and six touchdowns in two career games against Minnesota.
Herbert also surpassed 2,129 career completions and passed Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning to set the record for the most completions by any player through the first six seasons of a career in NFL history.
Key Stat
A handful of Chargers rookie came up with NFL firsts on Thursday night.
First, wide receiver Tre' Harris caught his first NFL touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
And safety RJ Mickens got in on the fun on the Vikings ensuing drive as he picked off Wentz on a floated pass over the middle.
Add in another monster game from Gadsden (five catches for 77 yards and a touchdown) and it was a big night for the Bolts rookie class in primetime.
