The Chargers on Friday confirmed they have interviewed Zach Orr for the defensive coordinator position.

Here are five things to know about Orr:
1. DC in Baltimore
Orr's most recent role came with the Ravens.
The 33-year-old spent the last two seasons as the Defensive Coordinator for the Ravens, a position he earned after spending the 2022 and 2023 seasons as their inside linebackers coach.
He has a total of nine years coaching experience in the NFL after getting started in the field during the 2017 season.
2. A successful unit
Orr has seen a level of success during his time as the defensive playcaller for the Ravens.
During his first season at the position in 2024, Baltimore led the league in rush defense (80.1 yards per game) and yards per rush (3.6).
His unit was also second in sacks (54), QB hits (115) and were in the top 10 in yards per play (5.2), scoring (21.2 points allowed per game) and total defense (324.1).
And over his two seasons at the helm, the Ravens ranked second in the NFL in EPA per play (-0.146) in run defense.
3. Chargers connections
Orr's time with the Ravens led him to cross paths with a couple of members on the Bolts.
The defensive coach was in Baltimore during the same time during his first stint with the team as Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz and assistant general manager Chad Alexander.
He was also a part of the defensive coaching staffs that included players such as Tony Jefferson and Odafe Oweh.
4. Coaching experience
As alluded to, Orr got his coaching career started in 2017 when he as a coaching and personnel assistant for the Ravens. He eventually worked his way up to become a coaching analyst.
He would then move on to work a year as the Jaguars outside linebacker coach in 2021 before returning to Baltimore, holding the role of inside linebackers coach and eventually defensive coordinator.
5. Former player
A North Texas alum, Orr earned first and second-team All-Conference USA accolades during his time as a linebacker at the school.
He finished his collegiate career playing 46 games and signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
Orr would go on to play in 46 games during his NFL career, including 15 starts in 2016 that earned him Second-Team All-Pro honors from the Associated Press.
