5 Key Chargers Players to Watch in Final 6 Games

Here are five Chargers players who could help the team in their push for the playoffs

The Chargers have returned from the bye and are focused on Sunday's home game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Entering Week 13, the Bolts sit in the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoff picture with a 7-4 record.

With that in mind, here are five Chargers players to watch in the final stretch of the 2025 season.

1. Omarion Hampton

There's a chance Omarion Hampton hits the practice field this week.

The Chargers rookie running back has been on Injured Reserve since suffering an ankle injury in Week 5, but Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh noted earlier this month that Hampton's possible return could come after the bye week.

Now that we've reached that point, the Chargers would certainly welcome back the dynamic 22-year-old in the mix.

Kimani Vidal was solid over the past six games with 417 rushing yards and a pair of scores. But the duo of Hampton and Vidal should be a strong 1-2 punch down the stretch.

Hampton tallied 66 carries for 314 yards and a pair of scores before his injury, and a healthy version of him could give the offense a boost in December and January.

2. Tuli Tuipulotu

The Chargers defense has plenty of big-name stars including Khalil Mack and Derwin James, Jr.

It's time to put Tuli Tuipulotu in that mix, too.

The third-year edge rusher leads the Chargers with 8.0 sacks and will set a new career high when he gets to 9.0 at some point this season.

Tuipulotu has also generated consistent pressure in 2025 as his 48 total pressures are tied for 10th in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

But Tuipulotu's violence in the run game has been noticeable this season, too, to help make him a more well-rounded player than in previous years.

The 23-year-old is a tone setter and has grown into a more vocal leader within the defense. The Bolts will need Tuipulotu to keep shining during the playoff push.

3. Jamaree Salyer

Harbaugh said last week that Jamaree Salyer is "an option" to start at left tackle going forward.

With Joe Alt out for the season, the Chargers have started Austin Deculus and Trevor Penning at left tackle when Alt has been out.

Salyer did play 38 snaps at left tackle in Week 9 when Alt went out, but he's mostly played right guard and tackle in 2025.

If Salyer does indeed step into the starting lineup, perhaps he'll provide the same stability we saw in 2022 when he started 14 games at left tackle as a rookie.

Salyer posted a 69.2 overall PFF grade that season along with a 75.9 pass-blocking grade, both of which are the best season marks of his career.

4. Tarheeb Still

Tarheeb Still returned to the field in Week 11 after a knee injury but was eased back into action with 24 snaps.

If the second-year cornerback is fully healthy after the bye, he has a chance to be an impact player with six games left.

The Chargers currently rank 17th in the NFL with a minus-1 turnover differential, an area where Still could help out.

Still had four interceptions as a rookie but has yet to record one in 2025.

If he can get one (or a few) going forward, he could help swing key games and perhaps a playoff spot toward the Chargers.

5. Justin Herbert

We'll end this list with the franchise quarterback.

Justin Herbert has been brilliant this season and is playing like a borderline MVP candidate, even if his advanced metrics don't tell the full story about how good he's been.

For starters, Herbert has been pressured 182 times so far in 2025, easily the most among all NFL quarterbacks.

But he has the Chargers in playoff contention once again and will be looking to make a statement if the Bolts can get into the dance.

With six games remaining, Herbert has a chance to lift the Chargers on his shoulders and get them into the playoffs for the third time in four seasons.

The Bolts already know how valuable and irreplaceable Herbert is. Perhaps the rest of the football world will learn that, too, in the closing moments of the 2025 season.
