Here are five things to know about Callahan:

1. Former HC

Callahan most recently spent his time as a coach in the NFL as a Head Coach in Tennessee.

The 41-year-old was at the helm for the Titans in 2024 and 2025, as he earned the position after 14 years of experience being a coach at the NFL level.

He became the 20th head coach in the history of the Titans franchise.

2. OC in Cincy

Prior to his time with the Titans, Callahan got his big break during his time in Cincinnati.

He was hired as the Bengals offensive coordinator in early 2019 and held the position for a total of five seasons.

His best years came during a stretch in 2021 and 2022, as he helped the Bengals win two AFC North titles, appear in two AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.

3. Among the best in the NFL

The Bengals offense ranked among the top units during his final three years there.

In the two years he was a part of offenses that made the AFC Championship Game, Cincinnati ranked eighth in EPA per play at 0.049.

And during the last three seasons with the Bengals, they were also in the top 10 in a number of categories.

They ranked sixth in scoring (24.9) and seventh in passing (250.8 yards per game), as quarterback Joe Burrow ranked eighth in passing yards (11,807) and fourth in touchdown passes with 85 during that time frame.

4. Familiarity in AFC West

Callahan's work up the coaching ranks took him through some years in the AFC West.

He began his NFL coaching career as a coaching assistant on the Broncos in 2010 before serving as their offensive quality control coach and offensive assistant over the next five seasons.

After a stint with the Lions, he then returned to the division as the quarterbacks coach of the Raiders in 2018.

5. Family in football

Callahan is well-entrenched in NFL coaching.

His father, Bill, is a longtime coach as he began his career in 1978 and worked his way through a long career at both the collegiate and pro level.

The elder Callahan has specialized as an offensive line coach throughout his career, but also spent a pair of seasons as the Head Coach of the Raiders in the early 2000s.

He was most recently alongside his son in Tennessee as their offensive line coach.
