The Chargers added to the offensive line room on Saturday by signing tackle David Sharpe.

Here are five things to know about Sharpe:

1. Tackle depth

In a corresponding move to the signing of Sharpe, the team placed tackle Rashawn Slater on Injured Reserve.

The team announced Thursday that Slater sustained a torn patellar tendon earlier the day in practice and will undergo surgery to repair the injury. He will miss the 2025 season.

2. Former 4th-round pick

The veteran tackle came into the league as a mid-round pick.

Sharpe was selected in the fourth round (No. 129 overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Raiders. He spent two different stints with the team in 2017 and 2018 to 2019.

He also spent time with Houston, Washington, Baltimore, Carolina and the Jets.

3. Baltimore connection

Sharpe reunites with Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz, with whom he has a prior connection with from his days in Baltimore.

When Hortiz was the Ravens Director of Player Personnel in 2021, the team added Sharpe to the practice squad. He played three games for the Ravens, all at right tackle.

Sharpe then spent the 2022 season on the Ravens practice squad.

4. Playing experience

The 29-year-old has seen his fair share of game action in the league.

Sharpe has six games of starting experience, but has played in 45 games throughout his NFL career. He started four of those games across his two stints with the Raiders and also two in Washington.

He saw his most action as a member of Washington as he played in 10 games for them in the 2020 season.

Sharpe has played a total of 662 offensive snaps, with most of them coming at right tackle, but also some left tackle. He has 160 special teams snaps as well.

5. SEC tackle

Prior to his NFL career, Sharpe was holding down the left tackle spot for the Florida Gators.

Sharpe worked his way into action as a true freshman in 2014 before assuming the starting role in 2015 and starting 13 games.

He was one of the two Gators to start every game for the school in 2016, as he finished his collegiate career with two appearances in the SEC Championship Game.
