The Los Angeles Chargers today agreed to terms with tight end Charlie Kolar on a multi-year contract.

One of the NFL's premier blocking tight ends, Kolar (pronounced KOH-ler) comes to the City of Angels after spending the last four seasons with Baltimore, originally entering the professional ranks as a fourth-round selection (128th overall) by the Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft. He helped pave the way for running back Derrick Henry to post a pair of 1,500-yard rushing seasons and total 3,516 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns over the last two years. Kolar also contributed on a unit that helped quarterback Lamar Jackson earn back-to-back first-team All-Pro honors from The Associated Press (2023-24), accounting for 74 touchdowns (65 passing, nine rushing). Over his four-year career, Kolar has appeared in 51 games and made 13 starts, totaling 31 receptions for 413 yards (13.3 avg.) and four touchdowns (including postseason).

Kolar appeared in 49 career games over four seasons at Iowa State University (2018-21) after redshirting in 2017. He was recognized as the winner of the William V. Campbell Trophy as a senior, also known as the 'Academic Heisman,' setting career highs with 62 receptions and 756 receiving yards, while adding six touchdown grabs. Kolar was a three-time first-team All-Big 12 recipient (2019-21) from the conference's coaches and a two-time Associated Press third-team All-American (2019-20). He finished his Cyclones career with 168 receptions for 2,181 yards (13.0 avg.) and 23 touchdowns — the second-most receiving scores by a tight end in the country over his four seasons in Ames, Iowa.
