Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday afternoon in São Paulo that he expects the running back to play in Week 1 against the Chiefs.

"Yes,"Harbaugh said when asked if he expects Harris to play.

He then added: "Full on the injury report. He says he's ready, and he looks ready to go."

Harbaugh was then asked how much of a workload he expects Harris to get in Week 1.

"Those are really hard to predict, play counts and things of that nature," Harbaugh said. "Get in there, play football and have at it. That's kind of the mindset. Not kind of, that is the mindset."

Harris sustained a superficial eye injury during a fireworks mishap on July 4 and was put on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) List ahead of training camp but has been working into the fold since being on the Bolts initial 53-man roster last week.

Harris said Monday he was hopeful to play.

"I'm feeling good though," Harris said. "We'll just see where it leads."

The veteran running back, who signed with the Chargers this offseason as a free agent, has rushed for 1,000-plus yards in each of his first four NFL seasons.
