Get ready for an AFC West showdown in Brazil.
The Chargers announced Wednesday that they will play the Chiefs in Week 1 of the 2025 season, a game that will be held in São Paulo, Brazil on September 5.
Kickoff is at 5 p.m. (PT) and will be streamed on YouTube and YouTube TV. The broadcast will be free and marks the first-ever NFL game broadcast live on YouTube.
The Chargers have been selected as the designated team for Brazil, meaning they will be the home team in São Paulo.
This will be the Chargers first international game since 2019 when they faced off against the Chiefs at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Week 1, which will mark the 10th time the Chargers have opened a season against the Chiefs in team history, could be a chance for the Jim Harbaugh's squad to make an early statement.
Kansas City has won nine straight AFC West titles and appeared in five of the past six Super Bowls, winning three of them.
The teams will play at Arena Corinthians, which is in São Paulo and opened in May of 2014.
The stadium is home to Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, a soccer team otherwise known as SC Corinthians. The stadium has a seating capacity of 47,252, making it the 13th-largest stadium in Brazil.
Arena Corinthians hosted six matches during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, including the opening match on June 12. Temporary seats were added to the stadium to meet the World Cup minimum requirement of 65,000.
The Week 1 game in Brazil will also be their eighth overall international game, four of which have come in the regular season.
The Chargers have played twice London (2018 against Tennessee and 2008 against New Orleans) along with the Mexico City game.
The Bolts have also played preseason games in Japan, Germany and Australia.
But when Week 1 against the Chiefs kicks off, the Chargers will become first NFL team to play games on five continents.
The rest of the Chargers 2025 schedule will be released on Wednesday at 5 p.m. (PT).
