A: Austin, it's funny you submitted this question because it was actually a topic of conversation earlier this week. While he was at the podium, Austin Ekeler let it casually slip that the training staff told him he may be pound for pound the strongest player on the team. A few in the media gave a funny look, but I totally agree. I mean, have you seen his weight room videos? He may not be the biggest guy on the team, but just like Danny Woodhead before him, the running back has a strong case as the pound for pound strongest player. In terms of overall brute strength, I'm going to go with Joey Bosa. I don't know whether or not he can lift the most, but the pure force he plays with off the snap is a wonder to watch. I passed along this question to Hayley Elwood, and her responses were Ekeler for pound for pound and Melvin Ingram for brute strength. A: It's crazy, but we really are only two months away from the start of training camp…which is why more and more of you are asking about when you can come out to watch the Bolts at Jack Hammett Sports Complex. The team is putting the finishing touches on the plans, so it shouldn't be too much longer. Keep checking back!
Q: Aside from Derwin James, are there any rookies you expect to make an impact in the coming season? – Kyle Brennan-O'Hara
A: I don't know if "expect" is the right word to use because I don't like to put expectations on rookies this early, but I think Kyzir White and Justin Jackson have a chance to play meaningful roles. Transitioning to WILL linebacker, White has the speed and power combo to see a lot of run depending on how quickly the fourth-round pick adjusts to the NFL game. Meanwhile, Jackson may be a seventh-round pick, but the Bolts certainly will need a third running back to pair with Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler. It looks like Jackson will get every opportunity to prove he's the man for the job.
