Mailbag: What Games Should We Look Forward to Most?

Q: How's Mike Davis looking? I am looking forward to watching him at training camp because he impressed me a lot during the season. I think he is an ascending player. He also has a cool name. – Michael Davis

A: Is this Mike Davis asking about Mike Davis?! I'm gonna have to do a full-fledged investigation. Anyway, I'm glad you asked about Davis. Now, it's way too soon to say how he's looking. We've only had a few strength and conditioning workouts, so actual football drills won't take place for a couple more weeks, but he is absolutely someone to keep an eye on. The former undrafted free agent really took a monumental leap forward a year ago, emerging as the team's starting cornerback over the second half of the season. Still, he'll be the first to tell you he still has a ways to go, so he's someone everyone will keep an eye on over the next few months. Ask again in June and I'll have a better answer for you, Mike!

Q: What game are you looking forward to Ricky? Why? I think it's a cool schedule. – Joseph Pont

A: If I'm going to be selfish here and think only of myself, then it is absolutely Week 2 against the Lions. Detroit is the only city we've yet to play in since I joined the Chargers in 2012, so this will mark off every single NFL city. I'm pretty excited about that. If any of you know a good place to celebrate in the Motor City let me know! But if I'm being serious, I'm really looking forward to that Mexico City game vs. the Chiefs. Last year's game in KC was so thrilling, so it's only natural to be pumped up for the sequel. Plus, both teams finished with identical 12-4 records – the best in the AFC – so it's obvious to circle that one on the calendar. Of course, as cliché as it sounds, the NFL really is a one week at a time league, so the focus should fully be on the Indianapolis Colts. They're gonna be a real tough opponent to kick off the season with, so I expect ROKiT Field at Dignity Health Sports Park to be rocking. Finally, yes, I agree it's a cool schedule. At least four primetime games with the Bolts on the big stage? Doesn't get much better than that! Love the exposure the team is getting this year as they certainly deserve it.

Don't Miss Out!

Q: Give us the scoop!!! Who we drafting, Ricky? – Marcus Kay

A: Same answer as last week – ¯\(ツ)

Q: Do we have the best RB group in the league because I sure think so? – Kristian Escamilla

A: Personally speaking, there's no other running back group I'd take. I don't think it gets much better than Pro Bowler Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson and Detrez Newsome. Add in Derek Watt, who was a Pro Bowl alternate, and that's a pretty potent group. So I certainly won't disagree with you, Kristian!
