3 Chargers Players to Watch Against Raiders in Week 13

3PTWRaiders

The Chargers are back from the bye week as they host an AFC West rival.

The Bolts will face the Raiders in Week 13 at SoFi Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. (PT).

Here are three players to watch on Sunday:

1. LB Daiyan Henley

Who could forget the last time the Chargers linebacker suited up against the Raiders?

Henley had arguably the best game of his young career so far, logging 10 tackles, a sack, an interception, two tackles for loss and two passes defensed.

He became the first Chargers players to record at least 10 tackles, an interception and a sack in a game since Rodney Harrison did so during the 2000 season.

And he did it all while battling an illness that had his status in doubt heading into the matchup.

"I just wanted to give my all to my team," Henley said after the Week 2 game. "I was thinking whether I'm 100 percent, 90 percent, whatever percentage I got, I'm going to give it my all."

Henley has been coming on as of late and will surely be a factor in the game with All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers on the other side.

The linebacker has held his own against Bowers when he's lined up against him, as he has allowed just three receptions on five targets for 21 yards in three games, according to Pro Football Focus.

Bowers has continued to be a threat since his return from injury, hauling in 26 receptions for 285 yards and three touchdowns in four games.

Whether it's in coverage or against Ashton Jeanty in the run game, Henley will be vital for the middle of the Chargers defense on Sunday and during the final six regular-season games.

2. OL Jamaree Salyer

This will be something to watch for heading into the final stretch of the season for the Bolts.

Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said Salyer could be "an option" to play left tackle after the bye week, as the offensive lineman has lined up at right guard, right tackle and left tackle this year.

Salyer hasn't started a game at left tackle this season but did play 38 snaps there in relief of Joe Alt in Week 9 against the Titans.

The fourth-year offensive lineman stepped in at tackle as a rookie and was dependable there in 2022 when he started the final 14 games of the season in place of Rashawn Slater.

He posted a 69.2 overall Pro Football Focus grade that season along with a 75.9 pass-blocking grade, both of which are the best season marks of his career.

It remains to be seen if or how he factors in the final six games, but it will be something to monitor if he does indeed line up there against the Raiders.

"Ready to attack that and put the pieces together," Harbaugh said. "The hope is to solidify it from now to the rest of the season and also put in the contingencies, starting, backups in those kind of roles."

3. OLB Khalil Mack

Another chapter in the story of Mack going against his former team is on deck.

The future Hall of Famer has 12.5 sacks in just nine games against the Raiders, the second-most he's tallied against any team during his career.

He sits at four in seven games so far this season and has been an impactful presence for the unit, especially in the run game where his physicality has been felt.

Since his full-time return in Week 8, Mack has 12 total pressures and has the sixth-best PFF run defense grade (78.8) among edge rushers with at least 100 snaps.

And he's looking to lead the unit in a bounce back week where they hope to get back on track.

"We got to fine-tune the details and be sharp with our hands and our feet and just playing physical at the line of scrimmage," Mack said on Wednesday.

Mack sets the tone and will have a chance, as well as his fellow pass rushers, to wreak havoc against a Las Vegas offense that is coming off a game where they allowed 10 sacks — and maybe even increase his sack total against his former team.
