Cameron Dicker took some time during his summer break to take part in one of the league's most engaging offseason programs.
The Chargers kicker was one of 29 players in attendance at the NFL Player Personal Branding and Social Workshop, held at YouTube's Google Office in Playa Vista earlier this week.
The event provided every player on hand the opportunity to learn how to further enhance their personal brands and maximize their presence on social media, as well as give them the opportunity to network with others.
They also heard from a number of speakers such as league sponsors, former players, creators and many more.
"It was super cool," Dicker said. "You're getting to see how to be an authentic content creator in a way and help grow your brand and how the NFL, YouTube is there to help elevate your platform."
The event, which is in its sixth year, is in partnership with former All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
NFL Senior Vice President, Player Operations Tracy Perlman said the goal was to help players of all experience find their own way of growing their brand and finding their voice.
"The hope is, if you're a younger player you start to think through what inspires me off the field and what do I aspire to be one day when I'm not playing," Perlman said. "They can start using all the other programming to figure it out.
"For the older guys who are getting ready to transition, they start to get laser focused on, 'Okay, I heard Jason McCourty talk about the media landscape, that's where I want to be,'" Perlman continued. "Or 'I heard Cam Newton talk about being an influencer and YouTuber, and that's what I'm looking at."
"The hope is they each walk away from here with, 'What is it that is my brand? Who am I at the core and how do I translate that to social and digital media.'" Perlman later added.
Wanting to explore more things outside of football, Dicker applied for the event after being made aware of it and finding that it was something he was interested in.

The Chargers kicker was accepted and came away greatly impressed with all the information and advice he was able to come away with.
"Being able to have all that information for free in a room is incredible," Dicker said. "Been a really cool experience. All of us were talking after like, it's awesome to be able to hear from people who do it firsthand and not have to pay for this information."
He later added: "You learn from legends of football. Larry Fitzgerald is here dropping dimes, and you get content creation beasts."
The multi-day event saw many speakers from the NFL and many major companies, as well as a number of content creators from different spaces like YouTube, TikTok and other forms of social media.
In addition to the interactive presentations and discussions, the players also broke out into multiple breakout sessions in smaller groups where they could get even more in-depth with speakers.
"There's a small number of players in a room with three content creators, and we're talking," Dicker said. "They have, probably, an average of 10 million followers on their platforms and being able to sit there and talk to them about how they got to that point, how they leverage things to get there."
These breakout rooms also included sessions with some with former NFL players who have found success as creators and in the media such as Newton, Ryan Clark, McCourty and Juwan Johnson.
"It's really important to us that we fulfill that," Perlman said. "For us, we want to get legends, guys that have been in their shoes, to then show them there is a path for you this way.
"It may be a bumpy path, it probably wasn't a smooth path to get to the NFL, so you've got to work at it," Perlman added. "But now I've seen somebody who's done it who was in my shoes and now I know it's possible."
The event went a long way in connecting with the players, as they now were able to see the different ways they could expand and how to do so.
It's something Dicker said he took away the most for the day as he continues to grow in all facets of his career.
"The feedback is always, 'I didn't know what I didn't know. I didn't know all the resources. I can't believe how open the NFL is with working with me off the field,'" Perlman said. "Really positive feedback."
Dicker added: "I think if we grow as brands, the NFL also grows as a brand so it's really cool to see the interest they have in personal growth and finding audiences, players have the ability to monetize and continue a career for the rest of their lives."
