Introducing Taylor Chavez, the Senior Manager of the Chargers Impact Fund.

Tell us a little bit about what you do at the Chargers...

I am the Senior Manager of the Chargers Impact Fund, no two days are ever the same in our department and that's what makes this work so enjoyable! Some days I'm out in the community connecting with our youth through our programs like Bolts Book Club, Bolt Academy and Chargers Champions. Other days I'm in the office working on administration priorities, creating newsletters, and planning upcoming fundraising and programs events to ensure our impact continues.

Did you always have a desire to work in sports?

I always wanted to work in sports, but I always pictured myself being on the medical side of the industry as an athletic trainer or physical therapist.

How'd you get your start?

I got my start in sports through working in Game Entertainment for the LA King working. While in grad school I landed an internship with the Chargers Community Relations Department and have had the opportunity to grow with the department for the past nine seasons.

What is the most rewarding part of your job and why?

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to create meaningful experiences that open doors for young people and expand what they believe is possible. There's nothing more powerful than watching a student try something new, build confidence, and realize they're capable of more than they ever imagined. Being even a small part of that growth and helping inspire the next generation is what makes this work so fulfilling.

Tell us about a woman that has inspired you and/or impacted your career today.

My mom inspired my love for the sports industry at an early age. She worked for 15 years for (formerly known as) the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and in the weeks leading up to race weekends she would bring my brother and I to work with her. We'd help out as much as we could and worked race weekend each year. She showed me what was possible and taught me that woman not only belong in a room in a male dominated industry, but they always deserve to have a seat at the table.
