TREY PIPKINS ROUND THREE TELECONFERENCE

Friday, April 26, 2019 | Hoag Performance Center | Costa Mesa, Calif.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS THIRD-ROUND SELECTION TACKLE TREY PIPKINS

On his development at Sioux Falls:

"I started at tackle. My redshirt year, I played left and right tackle just filling in wherever they needed me. Once I won the starting job my redshirt freshman year, I played left tackle from then on out."

On interest from colleges during his prep career:

"No, Sioux Falls was my only full offer coming out of high school."

On his skillset:

"As a player, I'm athletic with my thighs and move really well. I need to work on my body strength. That's something I'm focused on. I'm athletic and I finish really well. I finish blocks. As a person off the field, I'm the first person to laugh."

On if he expected to be drafted in round three:

"I had heard a lot of fourth-round stuff. I was kind of expecting tomorrow. My agent had said — because a lot of teams had fourth-round on me — if somebody really wants me that they would have to take me in the third round. Part of me was like, maybe today, but most of me was thinking tomorrow. I'm unbelievably excited."

On his contact with the Chargers:

"I had a formal interview with the Chargers at the combine, but I didn't have a visit with them or anything like that with them after that. I thought I did well in my interview at the combine, but I didn't hear anything back or anything else from them. I wasn't really sure how I did, but apparently I made a good enough impression on them."

On potentially blocking for QB Philip Rivers:

"I'm not sure that's completely set in, honestly. That's just an unbelievable honor and something that I can learn a lot from. I'm excited to get there and just soak in the advice."
