WEEK 5 — PODIUM AVAILABILITY

Friday, October 4, 2019 | Hoag Performance Center | Costa Mesa, Calif.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS HEAD COACH ANTHONY LYNN

On WR Mike Williams:

"I'll tell you what, he got better every day this week. I'm hoping that he can make it, but right now we just don't know yet.

"I think [he would be limited if he does play]."

On RB Melvin Gordon III:

"He has a role. You never can tell. We have a plan for Melvin. I don't want to put him in there and play him too much. I really don't have to. I like what [RB] Austin Ekeler has been doing in the backfield — and [RB Troymaine] Pope. Melvin will have a role.

"It doesn't matter who starts. You have a role. Like I said, Austin will play a lot.

On if Gordon will be the goal line back:

"Not necessarily. He could be."

On if Gordon will be the No. 1 running back:

"Whenever he's ready to go, he will be the No. 1 guy and he will get the bulk of the snaps. Obviously, he's not there right now."

On RB Austin Ekeler:

"[He won't be playing special teams] just yet. Not unless we have to."

On DE Melvin Ingram III:

"I don't want to say what the percentages are on [him playing]. I'm not going to put a player out there that's not ready, but he definitely wants to play. He has been in my ear all week. It'll probably be a game-time decision with him.

On K Chase McLaughlin:

"He looked fine. He did well.

"I mean, if I need him to kick, I believe he'll be ready to kick."

On LB Thomas Davis Sr.:

"Thomas, we rested him a couple of days this week. He's another guy that's going to go down to the wire. We're going to watch him run around on Sunday morning and see what he can do."

On if the team considered signing a punter:

"No, we brought in a kicker because that's what we needed. [P] Ty [Long] punting is just fine.

"He has been very successful kicking, but his plant leg is a little sore.

"I don't want to take any risk of [Long] hurting himself, so we just took him off those duties and let him punt."
