WEEK 7 — PODIUM AVAILABILITY

Friday, October 18, 2019 | Hoag Performance Center | Costa Mesa, Calif.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS HEAD COACH ANTHONY LYNN

On T Russell Okung:

"Russell did have a couple of days of practice. Still have to decide if it was enough for him to go out and play, and help us win. I'll make that decision later.

"I think, physically, Russell has been training and working all the time, but football is more than just the physical. It's the mental part of the game and communication with the rest of the guys — and just not practicing the whole camp and preseason. I just have to see if he did enough.

"You would love to see him get in there and get a couple of reps this week, and kind of work his way back in rep-wise, but he has only had a day-and-a-half of practice. If it's not enough to go in and help us, it could actually hurt us. I need to make that decision."

On not having a padded practice this week:

"When you have two of your top defensive linemen out and you have offensive guys working the scout team, that's not good. I don't want to put those guys in the situation in a padded practice where they could hurt themselves. Right now, I don't want anyone else.

"[Okung] did put the pads on Thursday and did things on the side. Russell has had pads on."

On DE Melvin Ingram III:

"He did a little more this week. He's doubtful, but that doesn't mean that he's not playing. He did a little bit more this week. We're still watching him. You don't want to rush a hamstring. We'll wait and see it pregame.

"He has been trying every Saturday, to be honest with you. I just haven't seen enough yet.

"He'll go through a pregame workout."

On DT Justin Jones:

"He hurt himself in the game. We thought it was going to get better and it didn't get better. It's slow to come around. It's best not to play him this week — Justin Jones and [NT] Brandon Mebane."

On DT Jerry Tillery:

"Jerry will start this week, absolutely."

On rotating defensive linemen:

"Yeah, we've always had a rotation with our defensive line. All four of those guys will play — [NT Damion] Square, [Jerry] Tillery, [DT] Cortez [Broughton] will be up. He'll play. We brought back [DT] T.Y. [McGill Jr.]. He did a good job before we had to let him go during final cuts. We brought him back. They'll all play."

On K Michael Badgley:

"He's getting better. He kicked yesterday. He's starting to look like himself. I see the confidence in his body language, the whole nine [yards]. He's getting better."
