WEEK 16 — PODIUM AVAILABILITY

Friday, December 20, 2019 | Hoag Performance Center | Costa Mesa, Calif.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS HEAD COACH ANTHONY LYNN

On the starting left tackle if T Russell Okung is unavailable:

"[T] Trey [Pipkins III] would start at left tackle. [T] Trent [Scott] would definitely play, but Trey would start out.

"I thought the last time that Trey went in, I thought he did fine. I wanted to see him start again and see how he plays, see how he handles that."

On CB Michael Davis:

"Yes, he will [start]. Just like he did last week."

On T Trey Pipkins III:

"Like I said, it's not too big for the young man. He went into the game, competed. He's athletic and can run. I like the way he gets to the second level and covers up linebackers. He gave up a couple hits and a sack last time, but he's a rookie. He needs to get in there and learn. I like his development so far."

On Pipkins development:

"[Offensive Line Coach] Pat Meyer is a hell of an offensive line coach. When we needed Trey, he stepped up. That's what brought those kids here to do."

On the rest of the season as an audition for a larger role next year for Pipkins or T Trent Scott:

"Absolutely. Neither one of those guys are starters. They're backups and swing tackles. If they can go in there and press these last couple of weeks, it's huge going into the offseason as far as how we start next year."

On NT Brandon Mebane:

"Just a veteran day for him. He needed some rest."
