The San Diego Chargers beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, 33-30.  The Chargers scored on their opening possession after Melvin Gordon took the ball into the end zone for a two-yard touchdown.  The run was set up two plays prior by a 49-yard gain from Philip Rivers to Tyrell Williams.  The score then became 7-3 after the Falcons kicked a field goal on their first possession of the game.  Four plays after a San Diego turnover, Matt Bryant kicked a chip shot field goal to make it 7-6, San Diego.  Josh Lambo tacked on three to the Bolts' lead after kicking a 40-yard field goal.  The Falcons capped off a seven-play, 75-yard drive with a touchdown to take the lead for the first time on the day.  The Falcons scored again after the Bolts' first punt of the day.  Tevin Coleman ran off right tackle for a 30-yard touchdown and 20-10 lead.  Atlanta scored their third touchdown in a row after Vic Beasley forced a Chargers fumble which Adrian Clayborn recovered and took into the end zone.  The Chargers got on the board with just over a minute left in the first half after Melvin Gordon scored his second touchdown of the day.  Tyrell Williams led all receivers with 113 yards at the half.  

After trading punts, the Chargers scored the first points of the third quarter thanks to a field goal by Lambo.  Lambo's 37 yarder brought the score within seven, 27-20 in favor of the Falcons.  Although Atlanta assembled a long drive that extended into the fourth quarter, Joey Bosa's second sack of the game on second down contributed to a defensive hold that only ended up in three points for the Falcons.  The Bolts tightened the score by three after Gordon scored his third touchdown of the day.  Gordon capped off a 15-play, 75-yard drive with a five-yard receiving touchdown.  While the Falcons were driving downfield, Denzel Perryman intercepted a pass from Ryan to give possession to his offense with just under four minutes left in the game.  The interception was Perryman's first of his career.  From the drive off the interception, the Chargers rallied downfield and ended up kicking a field goal to tie the game, 30-30.  While the Falcons got in position to kick a game-winning field goal, the attempt was no good and the game went to overtime.

The Falcons won the overtime coin toss and chose to receive.  Their drive got to the Atlanta 45 after the Bolts defense stopped Ryan on a QB sneak on 3rd-and-1.  However, the Falcons went for it on 4th-and-1 and were stopped, therefore turned the ball over on downs.  After taking over on the Atlanta 43, the Bolts moved the chains to the Atlanta 27.  Josh Lambo came out to try a 42-yard field goal and made it to win.

FIRST QUARTER

12:17 – On second down, Philip Rivers hit Tyrell Williams who took the ball down the right sideline for a gain of 49.

10:59 – Melvin Gordon took the ball into the end zone for his eighth touchdown of the year.

8:02 – Dropping back, Matt Ryan hit Julio Jones for a gain of 19.

6:31 – Matt Bryant booted a 42-yard field goal to give points to the home team.

3:42 – Rivers' pass was tipped off of Dexter McCluster's hands and into Deion Jones'.  Jones ran the ball back 42 yards to the San Diego 10.

2:38 – Bryant made it 7-6 after kicking a 27-yard field goal.

2:30 – Williams zig-zagged his way up the left side of the field for a gain of 20.

SECOND QUARTER

15:00 – Travis Benjamin threw a pass to Williams.  While it was ruled a catch, the Falcons challenged the call and the ruling was reversed.

13:34 – Josh Lambo kicked a 40-yard field goal to add to the Bolts' lead.

11:41 – Ryan aired it out to Jones for a gain of 50.

9:12 – Jacob Tamme caught the Falcons' first touchdown of the day to make it 13-10, Atlanta.

6:15 – Tevin Coleman ran off right tackle for a 30-yard touchdown.

4:41 – Vic Beasley came in to sack and strip Rivers.  Adrian Clayborn recovered the fumble and took the ball into the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

3:29 – Rivers dropped back and chucked a deep ball to Williams good for 38 to move into Atlanta territory.  Three plays later on third down, Benjamin gained 21 to move the chains.

1:06 – Gordon scored his second TD of the day to make it 27-17, Atlanta.

:34 – Melvin Ingram sacked Ryan for a loss of seven.

THIRD QUARTER

12:10 – Off 1st-and-15, Coleman rushed for a gain of 17 to move the sticks.

9:01 – Joey Bosa converged on Matt Ryan to sack the QB for a loss of seven.

7:36 – After gaining 17 yards off a Rivers to Dontrelle Inman pass, Kenneth Farrow rushed off right tackle for a gain of nine.  Two plays later, Gordon gained eight on the ground.

4:54 – Lambo's 37-yard field goal brought the score within seven.

1:52 – Devonta Freeman took a short pass from Ryan to the left for 15.  On the next play, he rushed off right tackle for 14 yards.

FOURTH QUARTER

14:21 – On second down, Bosa notched his second sack of the game.

13:28 – Bryant kicked a 31-yard field goal to make it a two-score game.

12:33 – On third down, Rivers found Benjamin for a gain of 13.

11:24 – Rivers was sacked by Clayborn for a loss of five.  On the next play, the Bolts converted a third down to keep their drive alive.

8:48 – Beasley got to Rivers to take the QB down for a loss of six.

6:03 – Gordon scored his third TD of the day, this one good for five yards, to make it 30-27, Atlanta.

5:52 – Ryan hit Jones up the middle for a gain of 21.

3:41 – Denzel Perryman intercepted a pass intended for Jones to give possession back to Rivers.

2:27 – On third down, Clayborn and Robert Alford came in to tackle the running back behind the line of scrimmage to bring up fourth down.

2:00 – Rivers and Antonio Gates connected to convert the fourth down.  On the next play, Rivers hit Inman for a gain of 17.

:46 – On 3rd-and-1, Gordon appeared to be stuffed in the backfield, however the running back went around the left side to stay alive for a gain of 13.

:22 – Lambo booted a 33-yard field goal to tie the game.

:18 – Ryan zinged the ball down the middle of the field to Jones for a gain of 25.

:01 – Bryant's 58-yard field goal attempt hit the bottom of the left upright and the game went to overtime.

OVERTIME

15:00 – Ryan found Freeman for a gain of seven.

14:16 – On third down, Justin Hardy gained four to move the chains.

12:42 – After Mohamed Sanu gained 11 on 2nd-and-12, Ryan was stuffed on a QB sneak on third down.

12:16 – On fourth down, Perryman stuffed Freeman in the backfield to turn the ball over on downs.

11:39 – Rivers hit Gates for a gain of 11 on 2nd-and-12.  On the next play, Gordon dove over the pile to move the chains.
