The Los Angeles Chargers fell to 0-4 on the season after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles, 26-24.

Stat of the Game:

Tyrell Williams' 75-yard TD reception in the second quarter was the ninth-longest catch in Chargers history, and ranks as the eighth-longest TD ever scored by a Bolt. He is also the only player in team history to post two touchdowns of at least 75 yards (80-yarder in 2015 season finale against Denver Broncos). It's also tied for the fourth longest reception this season in the NFL.

Play of the Game:

The Bolts found themselves in a 13-0 hole after Jake Elliott kicked a 40-yard field goal in the second quarter.  However, Chargers' first snap of the ensuing possession, offensive series, Philip Rivers stepped back and lobbed a pass deep down the middle of the field to Tyrell Williams.  After making the grab, Williams had enough speed to beat two Eagles defenders and run into the end zone with his arms outstretched to cut Philly's lead to six.

Turning Point:

After Austin Ekeler's touchdown brought the score within two points, the Eagles got the ball back with 13:42 left in the game.  Facing a 2nd-and-6, LeGarrette Blount took a handoff, found a hole up the middle, and rushed for 68 yards to the LAC three.  The Chargers defense then had seven tries to limit Philly to just a field goal after a pair of penalties, but on that seventh play, Wendell Smallwood rushed in to make it a 26-17 game.  That touchdown instead of a field goal proved to be the difference in the end.

It Was Over When:

Although the Bolts got the score within two for the second time with under seven minutes, they couldn't make a single  stop on the ensuing Eagles possession to give the ball back to Rivers.  Ultimately a 3rd-and-1 conversion from Blount with 1:54 left in the game doomed the team and diminished any chance of getting the ball back.

Odds and Ends

The Eagles outgained the Chargers 454 to 400 total yards.  The Bolts held a 347-242 edge through the air, but Philly had a 214-58 advantage on the ground.

Keenan Allen led the offense in targets (11) and yards (138).  He tied Tyrell Williams for most receptions in the game (five). 

Allen and Williams (115) became the first Chargers tandem to post 100-yard receiving games since Williams (117) and Travis Benjamin (117) on Oct. 9, 2016, at Oakland.

Austin Ekeler scored his first career touchdown when he scampered 35 yards for the score. The touchdown came on his first career carry.

Philip Rivers recorded his 53rd  300-yard passing game. Against the Eagles, Rivers went for 347 yards and two touchdowns. It was the 19th game of his career in which he threw for 300 or more yards with no interceptions.

Philip Rivers threw two touchdowns on Sunday to move his career total to 320. Only seven other quarterbacks have thrown 320 or more touchdowns.
