Quick Observations from the 26-22 Loss to the Colts

On Sunday, the San Diego Chargers fell 26-22 to the Indianapolis Colts.  Costly mistakes contributed to the Bolts' loss including 10 penalties and the inability to stop Indy when they were driving late in the fourth quarter to secure a comeback.

Stat of the Game:

With his third interception of the year through three games, Casey Hayward is tied for the most by a Charger since 2011.  Brandon Flowers also had three in 2014.

Play of the Game:

With just over a minute to go in the first half, Jatavis Brown converged on Andrew Luck to sack and strip the QB.  With keen awareness, Caraun Reid picked up the fumble and ran it back 61 yards into the end zone to tie the game 13-13.

Turning Point:

Driving downfield with just over 90 seconds to go in the game, Luck found T.Y. Hilton, who took it into the end zone for a 63-yard touchdown.  The Colts went for two, but despite the failed attempt, Indy secured enough points to regain the lead.

It Was Over When:

Down four with 1:11 to play, Philip Rivers found Hunter Henry who took the ball upfield until Clayton Geathers came in to dislodge it.  Colts safety Mike Adams recovered the fumble which ultimately led to the home team walking out with their first win of the season.

Bolt Quotebook

"There are a number of plays you look at; missed opportunities through the entire game.  It's not just one drive (or) one series.  There were a number of opportunities we had, where we didn't make the plays today." – Head Coach Mike McCoy

"It was a back-and-forth game.  (The offense) just couldn't capitalize on the interception by Casey (Hayward).  We didn't do anything with it and some of the layups that we missed." – QB Philip Rivers
