NikeSDFlagFootball

The Chargers and Nike recently continued to make their impact on the next generation of Southern California football.

Partnering with the San Diego Unified School District, the Chargers and Nike hosted a middle school flag football tournament this past weekend at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego.

As part of a two-weekend competition, a field of more than 60 teams was narrowed down to 16 finalists, featuring eight of the top girls flag football programs and eight boys teams in the district.

The 16-team tournament included 400 student-athletes, nearly doubling the size of last year's field and showing the continued growth of flag football at the middle school level.

Nike outfitted all participating teams with customized jerseys, creating a premier experience for every athlete.

The four championship teams earned additional recognition, taking home custom championship belts, Nike bags, and Bolt chains.

Chargers safety and Nike athlete Elijah Molden was on-site throughout the day, coaching, encouraging and connecting with the athletes during competition.

This tournament was another part of a broader partnership between the Chargers and San Diego Unified, which began in 2023 with the launch of flag football across the district.

Through startup flag kits, jersey funding, and kickoff camps, the Chargers helped build early momentum for the program. Since then, the league has grown from 35 schools to more than 60 teams, now reaching over 1,600 student-athletes across the district.
