Former Chargers Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer has advanced in the voting process among coaches eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026.
Schottenheimer is now among a group of 12 coaches, a group that will be narrowed to nine in early November. Eventually the group will be pared down to one finalist.
Schottenheimer compiled a 200-261-1 record over his 21 seasons as a head coach, including when he led the Chargers from 2002-2006.
His 200 career regular-season wins rank eighth all-time among all head coaches.
Schottenheimer helped lead the Bolts to 47 wins in that timespan, including a historic 14-2 season in 2006.
Schottenheimer also coached Cleveland, Kansas City and Washington during his career. He passed away in 2021 at the age of 71.
