Los Angeles Chargers Name Jim Rushton Chief Revenue Officer

The Los Angeles Chargers have named Jim Rushton as the team's first-ever Chief Revenue Officer.

Rushton comes to the Chargers from IBM, where he served as Partner and Global Leader of the Sports and Entertainment consulting practice. At IBM Rushton helped dozens of clients, including AMBSE (Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium) and the new Los Angeles Football Club, utilize technology and data to drive growth and deepen partner and fan engagement.

"Jim is a dynamic and energetic sales executive with an established track record of success," said A.G. Spanos, President, Business Operations. "He is a nationally recognized expert in leveraging technology to drive a sports business forward, and Jim's expertise will enable the Chargers to deliver the best possible results and service for our partners and fans."

With day-to-day leadership and management of all revenue-generating initiatives for the Chargers — including ticket and suite sales, sponsorship and media partnership sales, merchandise sales, and guest and client services — Rushton, who will report to A.G. Spanos, will also be responsible for maximizing the use of data and analytics to positively impact all aspects of team business operations.

"I am humbled and honored to have the privilege to join the Spanos Family, Chargers organization, and the National Football League as we prepare to kick off this special season in Los Angeles," said Rushton. "I look forward to working alongside our team as we earn relationships one corporate partner and one fan at a time."

Rushton has more than 20 years of sales and marketing leadership experience. Prior to joining IBM in 2015, Rushton served as Chief Revenue Officer of the Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium (now Hard Rock Stadium). In this position, and also as the team's Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Integrated Media, Rushton helped Miami significantly expand its corporate partnership base through various initiatives that included the creation of the Dolphins Business Alliance, the Fins Integrated Media Group, and the "Fin Club" — the first loyalty rewards program of its kind for an NFL team. Rushton also worked as a Revenue Activation Consultant for the San Diego Padres and as Vice President of Sales for Entercom New England. At Entercom, Rushton led exponential sales growth for Sports Radio WEEI and drove the Red Sox Radio Network to become the #1 radio revenue generator in Major League Baseball.

Rushton is a 1992 graduate of Hamilton College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics.

He will start with the Chargers the week of May 15, 2017.
