Kendall Willamson spread some holiday cheer earlier this month.

The Chargers safety recently stopped by the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital as he went around on a surprise visit to meet patients and their families and provide a gift.

As part of the continued partnership between UCLA Health and the Chargers, Williamson visited the hospital and helped families pick out special gifts for their child, including a number of toys, that they would get for the holidays later in the month.

He also was able to give a couple to the children himself as an early present.

"It was super cool. It was good to see the families, I know they're going through a tough time, especially around the holidays," Williamson said. "But all the families are really together and it was cool to have them pick out presents for their kids and their reactions.

"Just meeting people and spreading a little holiday cheer," he added.

After making his way through the hospital, he also was handing out different Chargers merchandise like mini helmets, hats, socks, mini footballs and more that he signed.

Williamson, a Georgia native, embraced the opportunity to spread some joy and the togetherness of the holidays.

"It means a lot," Williamson said. "Most of my family is in the Southeast so I don't really get to see them in the holidays so it was cool to see their families together."

Williamson spent time talking to the parents and also the staff on hand, showing his appreciation for what they do on a day-to-day basis.

"They were super friendly," Williamson said. "The staff was very nice, friendly and do a really great job with the kids, too."

He later added: "Everybody there was super welcoming. They were very friendly, they do a great job at the hospital with the care that they're giving."

Williamson was more than thrilled to be able to give back to the community around the giving season.

He takes a lot of pride in being able to give back in something that is much bigger than the game.

"Football is very important and it also affords us the ability to go out and spread love in the community, to support community in whatever way that is," Williamson said. "Even though we had the game and I'm happy we won, there's definitely other things that are important.

"Being on the Chargers gives us the opportunity to do more than just play," Williamson added. "We get to be a part of the community and bring love to other people around the area."
