Chargers Sign WR Mitchell Paige

The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Tuesday that they've signed wide receiver Mitchell Paige. The Indiana product took part in the team's rookie mini camp over the weekend on a tryout basis.

A former walk on, Paige totaled 115 catches for 1,330 yards and 10 touchdowns in 35 games with 24 starts.  He's just the 19th player in school history to surpass the century mark in receptions and 1,000 receiving yards.   The 5-8, 180-pound Indiana native excelled on special teams during his career as well, returning 39 punts for 360 yards and two touchdowns.

Paige earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors last season after leading the Hoosiers with 58 receptions for 646 yards and four touchdowns. A team captain in 2016, he ranked fifth in the conference in catches and 12th in receiving yards.  His top game came against 10th ranked Nebraska when he set season-highs with nine receptions for 101 yards.

To make room on the roster for Paige, the Chargers waived linebacker Carlos Fields.
