Chargers Sign Ryan Carrethers; Place Jerry Attaochu on Reserve

The San Diego Chargers announced Saturday that nose tackle Ryan Carrethers has been signed to the active roster off the practice squad.  He takes the place of outside linebacker Jerry Attaochu, who was placed on the Reserve-Injured list with a foot injury.

Carrethers is a 6-1, 333-pound nose tackle who began the year on the active roster before being moved to the practice squad heading into Week 5.  Initially a fifth-round pick in 2014, the Arkansas State product has appeared in 20 games with three starts, totaling 41 tackles over his career.

Attaochu's 2016 season was marred by injuries, and comes to an end after breaking his foot late in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Houston Texans.  The outside linebacker missed three weeks earlier in the year with a sprained ankle suffered in Week 6's win over the Denver Broncos. He saw limited snaps in Week 10 before suffering the broken foot in Houston.  Attaochu ends 2016 with eight tackles, two sacks, nine pressures and seven QB hits over parts of eight games. He also ranked fourth on the team with four special teams tackles.
