Presenting your 2016 San Diego Chargers.
The San Diego Chargers signed CB Trevor Williams to the active roster off the practice squad on Friday as CB Jason Verrett was placed on the reserve-injured list with a partial ACL tear.
Meanwhile, two days after being waived from the active roster, NT Ryan Carrethers was re-signed as a member of the practice squad.
The 5-11, 191-pound Williams signed with the Bolts as an undrafted free agent this offseason out of Penn State. He appeared in all four preseason games, recording six tackles and one interception he returned 32-yards against the San Francisco 49ers.  The cornerback was waived during the final roster reduction and immediately placed on the practice squad.
Williams was a two-time honorable mention All-Big Ten selection his final two seasons with the Nittany Lions. He appeared in 49 games with 31 starts over four seasons, converting to cornerback from wide receiver as a sophomore. He totaled 84 tackles, 30 passes defensed and four interceptions his last three years, and was the team's 2015 Ridge Riley Memorial Award winner as the Penn State player who consistently exemplifies the team's philosophies.
Verrett's season officially ended after he was diagnosed with a partially torn ACL on Tuesday. The Pro Bowl cornerback posted 13 tackles, three passes defensed and one interception over the first four games of the season.
The 6-1, 333-pound Carrethers was San Diego's fifth-round selection (165th overall) in the 2014 NFL draft. He appeared in 20 games with three starts during his first two seasons, recording 41 tackles along the way. Carrethers was inactive the first four games of this season.
