Chargers Release WR James Jones

Following a bevvy of roster moves earlier in the day, the Chargers also announced Monday that veteran wide receiver James Jones has been released.

The 32-year old was signed on Aug. 4 following a season-ending injury to Stevie Johnson. He caught seven passes this preseason for 69 yards.

San Diego's roster now stands at 83 and must be trimmed to 75 by Tuesday afternoon. The team also waived  WR Torrence Allen, C Bruce Johnson,CB Michael Lee, LB Zach Hodges, DT Bruce Gaston and CB Greg Ducre, claimed RB Gus Johnson, placed C Chris Watt on Reserve-PUP and signed first round draft pick Joey Bosa in what was a busy day at Chargers Park.
