Chargers Legend Dan Fouts Lends His Support, Talent to "Heart of San Diego" and New Downtown Project

San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts narrated an impressive, four-minute sizzle reel to give San Diegans a look at the initial vision for a new sports and entertainment complex in Downtown San Diego.

The video, entitled "The Heart of San Diego," outlines the multi-use capabilities of the world-class events center that will not impose any new taxes on San Diego citizens.  The narration includes:

  • "The city, the Chargers and our loyal fans would have a new home that would be the first-of-its kind in the country; attracting the biggest events in sports and entertainment: and none bigger, of course than America's national holiday, the Super Bowl."
  • "Together we would finally complete the vibrant sports and entertainment district (downtown) that has been years in the making.  This downtown project could become the heart of the next generation, creating a new civic treasure for America's Finest City."
  • "A beautiful, state-of-the-art addition to the convention center would open doors to new shows, conferences and exhibitions.  The many terraces, balconies, and even a Sky Garden would inspire more visitors to come and celebrate San Diego's enviable indoor-outdoor lifestyle."

"I am honored to be a part of this project," said Fouts.  "I love San Diego and I believe whole-heartedly in this vision and what the new facility can do for downtown and the future of the community."

The preliminary concept design and initial imagery have been created by MANICA Architecture. Led by David Manica, the firm specializes in the design of international sport, entertainment and convention venues.  The video was produced and directed by the Chargers and Katie Walsh of Project Life Media, an Emmy award-winning production company based in Encinitas, California.
